Lotus Defence Facial – Thai Square Spa | UK WEDDING BLOG

By Laura

Let me start off by saying I am not a beauty expert and I’m definitely not about to claim that I have perfect skin because of some rigorous beauty regime. However, as a bride-to-be myself I am certainly open to finding treatments that will help rejuvenate my skin and leave me glowing on my big day. Thai Square Spa, located just off of Trafalgar Square in London, offered to treat me to their new Lotus Defence Facial and I couldn’t say no!

You would think that being in the heart of Central London it would be hard to find a spa where you can step straight from the busy streets into an oasis of calm. However, as I stepped inside Thai Square Spa and the doors closed behind me, I was immediately transported to a serene sanctuary of peaceful relaxation. Having been booked in for a facial, I was a little surprised to be handed a dressing gown and flip flops and asked to strip down! All I can say is thank goodness I shaved my legs and my toenails were painted.

Once I got changed, I was taken down to the relaxation centre, a space surrounded by white, Roman pillars with loungers where you can relax while you wait for your treatment room to be set up. I had a gander around the facilities while I waited and the spa is kitted out with the prettiest jacuzzi, lined with gold tiles, and a steam room. The ‘Sen Space’ as this area is called, has to be booked separately if you would like to make use of it.

I was greeted by Tuckk, my therapist for the afternoon, who took me down the candle-lit corridor to my treatment room. She opened the door to a beautifully tranquil space where a copper roll top bath sat at the head of the massage table – swoon! She soaked and massaged my feet, odd you might think for a facial, but apparently this helps increase blood circulation.

The Lotus Defence Facial is a new 1 hour treatment which uses combinations of lotus to hydrate the skin. After removing makeup and clumps of mascara (#guilty), Tuckk made a start and throughout the hour she exfoliated, cleansed and toned my face, using an array of products to replenish hydration in my skin. What I loved is that she also focussed on my neck and the top of my chest which left these areas feeling nourished and youthful. There was a mixture of foams, sprays and serums, all of which smelt fruity and floral. The therapist also applied a lotus lip balm to make sure my lips were equally hydrated. She finished off with a lovely head massage while she let all the products sink in and I think it is a definite compliment that I felt myself dozing off 3 times throughout the treatment.

I left the spa floating and totally stress-free and I would definitely recommend this as a pre-wedding treat to give yourself 1 hour of pure relaxation before the big day. The facial is suitable for all skin types, even sensitive, so there’s no need to worry if you’ve got particularly troublesome skin. When I got home Fraser commented on how soft my skin felt and even now, the morning after, I don’t feel the need to moisturise because it is still radiant!

{I was asked to review the new Lotus Defence Facial in exchange for this blog post but all views are 100% my own}
