Hi there lovely readers, My name is Catriona, I am a 30 year old business owner from the Isle of Islay and I have been one of the lucky people chosen to be a blogging bride. Now that the team building style introduction is over, I can relax, phew.
Today, I want to start with a short intro post to my other half, Richard and I. I understand that half of you will not care, and half of you will be a bit nosey, like me, and keen to know a bit more about us. For me it’s important as our wedding, the planning and all activities surrounding it, are just for the two of us. What we want, love and enjoy. I’m certain that the guests will enjoy themselves as much as us, but we want it to be unique to us as a couple; for guests to walk away and say that summed up Catriona and Richard perfectly. So to enjoy and be part of our preparations, it will probably help to know a little more about us.
Richard and I live on a small island off the West Coast of Scotland called Islay (pronounced:Eye-laa). We live in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by deer, pheasants and hills. There’s no Starbucks, MacDonalds, Shopping Centres or Wine Bars for at least 100 miles (including a 2 hour ferry journey). We enjoy farming documentaries, meals out, Scottish Ceilidhs, crafting, woodland walks and time with family. For most of you, this will sound like hell, but we love it.
Richard and I met at the Annual Agricultural Show Dance 5 years ago. Strangely, having both lived on the small island for 20 years, we had never crossed paths before. As cliched as it sounds, I knew he was the one from that day but it took us a few more months to get together as a couple.
Like most couples, life has had it’s ups and downs. There have been many times where I genuinely do not think I would have made it through if it had not been for the love and security of Richard.
I am so excited to be his wife.
