The Ultimate Bridal Experience with Riki Dalal Haute Couture | UK WEDDING BLOG

Have you chosen your wedding dress yet? For me when I was getting married three years ago, this was my very favourite part of the planning. I went to a few boutiques locally to me in Hertfordshire with my Mum and Bridesmaid and the whole thing was magical, I honestly felt like a princess and it was pretty easy start to finish. I found ‘the one’ almost straight away and then it was a case of trying others just to rule them out. However I know for a lot of brides to be that they can find it stressful and if you choose the wrong boutique, it can make you feel pretty miserable at a time when you should feel your best. I feel like there is quite a lot of pressure to enjoy it from the bridal world which also doesn’t help the situation. It’s not just about the dresses on offer, a bridal boutique and the person you’re dealing with can make a HUGE difference to the whole experience. Last week we got invited to Riki Dalal Haute Couture in London for a VIP bridal experience and it takes bridal shopping to a whole new level.

Riki Dalal is a haute couture Israeli designer that have spread across the globe. They’ve opened their first London flagship store on South Molton Street, just past Bond Street station. I visited last Thursday to try out the new bridal service that they’re offering. Everything I had was exactly what a bride would experience, except mine was choosing a bespoke evening gown instead of a wedding dress {although I couldn’t resist trying some on again for old times sake}.

I arrived to juice, the offer of champagne and all the treats you could ever imagine. Cookies, truffles, fresh strawberries, pastries and breakfast pies.

The idea is that you make a morning/afternoon/evening of it with whoever you want to bring for your two hour slot. Your Mum/friend/sister etc.

Upstairs are a selection of gowns along with the hair and make up studio but downstairs is where the fun happens. You forget that you’re even in London – completely away from the hustle and bustle, it’s your private appointment and you’ll be so well looked after.

Part of the experience is to have your hair and make up styled before you try any gowns on. I love the idea as when I tried dresses on you always wonder how it will look with the full look. It makes you feel glamorous and there’s no obligation to use the stylists at Riki Dalal on your wedding day of course but it gives you an idea of the whole shebang as well as giving you the opportunity to try more bridal hair styles and make up for your day. The lovely Viktor Bourgeois from Toni & Guy styled my hair and Avia Solomon {Vivis Make up} used MAC to give me a make over. Such a treat!

Feeling all glam, I was given a fluffy gown and slippers to wear whilst I chose which dresses to try on. There was so much choice in both bridal and evening wear, including a lot of beautiful hand embroidered beading typical of Riki’s signature designs. There’s no limit of how many dresses you can try on in your two hour appointment so it gives you a chance to try on styles you might not have thought you’d like and just go crazy. You might even find something for the Mother of the Bride.

From long ballgowns to sparkly cocktail dresses in every colour, I wanted them all! And don’t even get me started on the bridal gowns. Anything can be altered and everything is unique. Riki believes that anything you dream up can be created, if you want a feather skirt or sleeves added in, crystals added in or padded cups, the team will work with you to create your dream gown.

I started by choosing evening dresses to try. I loved the bright colours on this beaded gown, but the shape wasn’t quite right on me.

This black gown was incredible and would have been amazing for an evening or black tie event.

This sparkly number reminded me of a mermaid skirt! All pearlescent with a fun Bollywood style crop top.

But I wanted something classic that would work in both the winter or summer so I chose this silver dress but wanted to change a couple of bits on it. The team suggested that the back piece would be better as a thinner strip up the back and I’ve opted to have the hem lowered so the sheer bottom starts a bit further down. I’m so in love with the patterns and sparkle on it! I had my measurements taken so it can be made to measure. All fittings and adjustments to dresses are included in your gown price, something that isn’t always offered as standard.

With my dress chosen {eeek!} it was time for all things bridal. I asked the team what they’d advise for me to try as there was so much choice and we’d spent quite a lot of time on the evening gowns. If you were a bride to be though you’d focus solely on the bridal options. In the end I decided on a fun two piece to wear.

It made me just want to get married all over again! {to the same guy though rest assured}. There’s a wide selection of accessories to try on with your dress, and also different height shoes but you could bring your own if you’ve chosen them already. There’s nothing like feeling like a bride, or even just pretending to be one again.

There’s a block to stand up on in the bridal suite and a special staircase for selfies. When I was getting married I was actually advised not to take many photos on my phone. You want it to be a surprise and feel special when you come to try it on again. But of course if you love it, it’s hard not to take a few snaps. Just try not to show too many people before your day.

We went outside for a few photos with the live model in the window {much to people walking past’s fright thinking she was a mannequin!}. She looked incredible in her fishtail gown. The whole thing was so much fun and the whole team really want you to feel your best.

We then went to try a few more skirt options before reluctantly having to get my normal clothes back on and get back to reality. Bye bye wedding dress of dreams.

If you’re looking for your dress then I would definitely recommend you going to try the VIP bridal experience at Riki Dalal. There’s no pressure from them {you should never ever feel pressured with any of your planning} and if you’re worried about budgets there are flexible finance options with no interest to pay which you can discuss with the team.

Let me know if you have any questions about the whole thing. You can find more, and book in, on their website here.

I can’t wait to receive my dress! Anyone want to invite me to a suitable occasion for it now please?
