Good morning lovely reader. Today we are talking being a wedding guest! On a verrrrry warm day in September I grabbed my camera, a parcel of beautiful clothes and asked my friend if she we wouldn’t mind modelling. To me, this is one of the better parts of my job. It was such a fun day, and it was wonderful to escape the house amidst kitchen mess (remember what a hoot that was?). When French Connection got in contact about a collaboration my first thought was being a wedding guest and dressing for the seasons, especially the beginning of Autumn. I think the most important decisions are which coat, and whether to wear tights or not. French Connection have a beautiful Autumn coats collection as well as all the usual pretty wedding guest dresses. I have chosen and styled some of my current favourites, I hope you enjoy!

It wouldn’t be a wedding morning (whether you’re marrying or attending) without one of these beauties. Or the perfect gift to take with you! I eased Karla in to getting her photo taken with a few ‘getting ready’ shots.
Autumn is all about finding transitional wedding guest dresses. You don’t want to be too warm, but you don’t want to be carting around several layers so what do you do? I think you just have to be smart with your dress, coat, tights, scarf combining. I personally prefer to be cold rather than hot so will always leave off a scarf or thick coat in favour of something that will just take the chill off.
This floral dress is gorgeous, big zip back to hold everything in and most importantly…it has pockets. To hide tic tacs and secrets.
Floral Dress – French Connection. Bag, Sunglasses and Shoes – Models own. Loved this dress, a little on the short side and would be worn with tights and ankle boots this time of year!
Choosing a coat for in between seasons can be hard, you don’t want to commit too early just in case you find your perfect winter coat later in the season, but you need something smart for events. The feel of this coat was a thing of beauty, so thick and warm, beautiful lining and lovely deep pockets. Teamed with ankle boots and vintage chanel bag, perfect!
If you are wanting something a little cooler, in so many ways then this seasons suede coat is such a versatile option. The lace dress is models own. We needed something neutral to let the coat do all the talking. It is buttery soft, many a pocket and a beautiful investment piece.
And finally, my favourite choice the Petra dress.. Now, I know you’re not ‘meant’ to wear black to a wedding but in this day and age I genuinely feel you can. Especially if you are attending the evening do. As a blogger/influencer I am imploring more of you to wear black so that we can all wear black, deal? Paired with grey heels and a red lip, I think Karla looks beaut!
The detailing in the lace is gorgeous. One thing to note about this dress is that it is v body con and true to size, if you are in between sizing I would advise going up. The nude underlay (is that the right word? Slip? That is probably better) The nude slip underneath gives the dress a bit of a racier feel but you can’t see anything, don’t worry! I also love that the peplum will hide wedding breakfast sins, because after 2 proseccos and canapés, my stomach is never flat! (Not that Karla had this issue).
Another dress I am adoring but was sadly out of stock at the time, is the Anouk lace dress. Thinking of this one for a work Christmas party paired with these beauties. But is also perfect for upcoming winter weddings, without being too wedding guest-y. I hope you love my edit of the current collection and the next time you are searching for the perfect wedding guest outfit, make sure you stop off at French Connection first!
