A Fresh Spring-Inspired Bridal Makeup Look |Uk Wedding Blog

PicMonkey CollageI know, I know – it’s definitely still winter – it may be mild but not so much so that it’s anything like spring-like. However, in makeup world it’s approaching time for Spring collections – as soon as NY hits, it’s apparently time to leave behind glitter, shimmer, and glam, and start thinking fresh, pretty and healthy. When some of the new Clarins spring collection landed on my desk a few weeks ago I thought it would be nice to show you some of it on a beautiful model rather than just as swatches – so I called upon Kirsty, who was in fact a Summer 2015 Love Moi Bride herself.

The colour collection is all super wearable, versatile and perfect for that healthy fresh glow we all want after winter has dried our lips and dulled our skin. With eye brightening iridescent shades, easy, creamy gloss and lipstick, and a gorgeous cream blush, these products are heading straight into my bridal kit for the upcoming season!

Kirsty has the most amazing healthy, even skin, which already has a natural glow (lucky girl!) and this look was a wearable and natural, so I kept products dewy and coverage light. Generally when we start to think toward Spring we may want to move away from heavier coverage we feel we need in winter months – if we get a little more natural colour to the skin and our skin is less dehydrated it’s easy to feel a little more chilled about our base. I wouldn’t say Bare Skin is a hugely long-lasting foundation if you do like a good 16 hour impenetrable wear, but it is glowy, easy to apply and very natural looking and feeling. Keeping with all cream products is great if you love a glowing base, and you can apply a setting spray if you want more longevity without adding powder.

Lip colour being applied is Clarins Rouge Éclat 23 Hot Rose

This is a super simple eye look to create, but as you can see Kirsty’s amazing blue eyes really pop with this hint of pinky plum. The Ombre Iridescent shadows are cream to powder pots with a mousse type consistency which glide onto the eye beautifully and give a soft shimmer. Products like this are fabulous as a base for eye makeup or alone as they are unlikely to crease as they set to a powder finish. The two colours – Silver Ivory and Silver Plum are both beautiful for everyday, or you could build with darker shadows for an evening look.

Lip Colour – Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector (£15)

Lips and Cheeks

We tried three lip colours – two lipsticks from the Clarins Spring Collection, which you can see in the images, and the beautiful Lip Perfector in Toffee Pink Shimmer, which is so hydrating and easy to apply it’d be a great touch up for the wedding day. I was genuinely impressed at the creaminess of the lipsticks – the pigment was gorgeous and I didn’t need to use a lipliner, just a lip brush to get a great shape. I hadn’t tried these before but am definitely going to investigate further for my clients. Wearing a brighter lip is such a simple way of lifting your complexion as well, and I think for your wedding photos its always worth wearing some colours, as I find blusher and lip colour are two things which typically look more muted in wedding photos (beyond that, don’t ever let anyone tell you you need loads of makeup “for photos” – you need exactly what you feel comfortable in – end of.)

So there you have a beautiful fresh, ready for spring look. This gorgeous hair was created by styling Queen Flamingo Amy, and the hair piece is from her own accessory collection, do make sure you take a peek as they are quite beautiful! These photos were taken by talented S. Pheasey Photography, and makeup is by my good self.  The Clarins Spring Collection launches on the 10th of January.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this look – let me know if you opt for any of these products and how you find them! I’m planning some exciting review posts for you at the moment so do let me know if there’s anything specific you’d like to see – tweet me @lovemoimakeup or find me on instagram under the same.
