Review ~ Clarins BeautyBAR |UK Wedding Blog

Happy New Year! I hope you had a fabulous evening and aren’t lying in bed feeling too delicate today (but I bet you are!) I’m excited to be bringing you the first SYGM post of 2016.

So in the busy run up to Christmas, I was invited by Clarins to visit their new BeautyBAR in flagship counter store John Lewis, Oxford Street to try one of the custom BeautyBAR treatments, all of which are express treatments designed to offer maximum results to those short on time or looking to fit in a convenient treatment to a busy schedule.  Each treatment is 30 mins long and only £25 each, so super affordable too – making it perfect as a potential hen activity for you and all your girls, with no awkward expense issues which may be budget dependent, or as a pit stop when out wedding dress shop in Central with Mum or MOH.

It has to be said that the Bar looks lovely – the counter it resides in was super busy (as you’d expect in December) but the Bar is a clean, calm, modern space set back from the rest of the store, and although you are aware of the buzz of conversation and the mumur of activity whilst in there, you cleverly aren’t disturbed by it at all. It’s also been designed so you really aren’t on display to the public whilst having your treatment, which having worked on counters is something I know people can feel conscious of.

Clarins therapist Steph was such a doll and super thorough – once I arrived at the Beauty BAR I was shown to one of the white chairs and we had a chat about which treatment would be beneficial to me. I loved the idea of a facial, however I had a couple of meetings afterwards and wandering around sans eyebrows was not appealing to me (if you do choose a treatment which involves removing your makeup the girls on the Clarins counter are more than happy to help you with a touch up if you have your day to go about!) I have recently been seeing a Chiropractor for a few back problems so I opted for the Destress Express, a fast acting deep pressure massage which concentrates on your choice of two trouble areas (hands, scalp, neck and shoulders or face and eyes). My therapist gave me a choice of three gorgeous smelling oils, and then applied a compress to my eyes to help to block out the light and relax. I opted for neck and shoulders and hands, and the treatment was really lovely – I’ve had treatments with Clarins many times before and I always find the experience hard to fault – the therapists are always so thorough and they really focus on finding out what you need, to give you a personalised treatment.

Once the massage was finished, Steph slowly removed my eye mask, warning me the light would seem pretty bright at first (it did!) and then topped up my makeup where it needed it. She ran through her recommendations for products and treatments which would suit my lifestyle and needs, and even showed me some simple neck stretches to help with my areas of tension, as well as recommending hot and cold compresses such as wheat cushions for my neck and lower back.

I was kindly given a couple of little treats to try at home – I’m now a convert to the Relax Bath & Shower Concentrate, and both Mr J and I are are now addicted to the Moisture Rich Body Lotion – the scent is so light and the product is so easily absorbed it’s super easy to use day and night and won’t interfere with any fragrance you want to wear. I hate body lotions which leave huge amounts of residue on the skin, so this was like a breath of fresh air! Mr J gets incredibly dry skin so it’s been perfect for him too. I was also recommended the Energizing Emulsion which is next on my purchase list – I did buy this years ago, and as it was used at the end of my treatment it reminded me that it’s such a lovely feeling applying this after a long day of work, particularly if your job involves long periods of standing.

There are three locations for the BeautyBAR in the UK – John Lewis Oxford Street, John Lewis Liverpool and Debenhams Bradford. If you do go let me know what you think!

Treatments available –

Knot A Problem, Skin Care Workout, Get Glowing, SOS Facial, DeStress Express, Revital Eyes, Firming Favourite and for guys – A Little He Time ~ all £25 for 30 mins.
