Morning, how is it Monday again?? At least the crazy rain has finally stopped, can we have summer back now please? Do you remember a couple of weeks ago when we went to stay at the lovely Blue Door Barns? The boutique B&B with beams, barn stars and a to die for breakfast? Well there’s a post on that coming soon but for now I’d love to tell you about Blue Door Barns Events, the sister company who create the most incredible weddings. From dreamy venues set in the best British countryside to tying up the little details with a quirky charm, they can do it all with bells {or bunting!} on.

The Blue Door Barns team combine a mix of experience in PR, marketing, event and celebrity management as well as styling, photography and interiors. They all used to work in the Big Smoke but have moved to East Sussex to create something special – a company that delivers beautiful, bespoke events in stunning, undiscovered venues.

Weddings are their speciality and every wedding booked with Blue Door Barns comes with the basic planning service which includes: Help to find your perfect venue with site visits and coordinating of contracts + Help to find and book your chosen marquee and caterer, overseeing the construction and taking down of marquee, loos and liaising with caterers throughout the planning process + On the day event management to ensure a smooth and stress-free day for you and your guests.

Other services that you could also book include – a full clear down service {so you don’t have to worry about clearing up on your first day of married life!}, a full wedding planning service {where you share your vision for your big day and receive a fully costed, creative proposal which can be implemented in full or in part on your behalf}, flowers {BDB can coordinate all your floral arrangements with a preferred florist or take you to their seasonal flower farm to pick flowers together}, car hire {vintage wedding car/camper van/Rolls Royce or a double decker to take your guests from your ceremony to your reception}, photographers/videographers, entertainment {from photo booths to live bands, mystics, magicians, entertainers. They have access to all sound equipment needed too},signage {hand painted personalised wooden signs are their speciality}, accommodation at Blue Door Barns, pre wedding dinner parties {for up to 20 in a beautiful drawing room at Blue Door Barns}. You can even hire the Blue Door pop-up Bar and create your own exciting drinks menu.

So in short, there isn’t much that the team can’t do. Recently they’ve even built an outdoor tandoor oven to create an authentic Indian dining experience for 200, created a pop up Brazilian rum bar complete with bespoke cocktails, dressed a venue with over 1000 outdoor candles in trees and created a boho-chic style camp site for a festival wedding. How incredible!

There are four beautiful venues to choose from, and quite frankly I think it would be impossible to choose between them all!!

Beanstalk Country – For couples looking for a relaxed style of wedding amongst the glorious English countryside. You’ll love the prettiness of the unique Beanstalk Country Gardens and Paddocks. There is use of all grounds including an Indian tea tent, Dolly the caravan, paddocks and there is the option for guests to camp {or glamp!}. There’s a secret garden summerhouse perfect for the newlyweds on their wedding night. There are rambling gardens filled with English country flowers and secret lined paths. Capacity for up to 200.

Firle Place is nestled at the foot of the South Downs in a charming village. The Private Gardens are perfect for couples looking for an elegant, showstopper of a venue which will wow guests but still with the originality associated with Blue Door Barns Events Weddings. Celebrations start in a beautiful, private walled garden complete with a 16th century thatched dairy cottage for reception drinks. Majestic stone steps or a daisy-strewn wild orchid walkways lead to The South Lawns – a totally private space overlooked by the South Downs. For guests wanting a church wedding, Firle Church is situated next door with a gate leading directly into Firle Place. There is capacity for 200 guests.

– Firle Place Herb Garden – For couples wanting a slightly more rustic feel but still want the glamour and romance of Firle Place’s impressive grounds. An 18th century walled garden with adjacent fruit orchard lovingly restored to offer a dreamy, romantic setting for wedding receptions. Enter the Herb Garden from an enchanting woodland walkway beside a lake. Guests can wander the flower strewn walkways, drink in hand and then move through the orchard which has space for a marquee. For guests wanting a church wedding there is a church next door with a gate directly into Firle Place. Capacity for 120 guests.

– Glynde Place – Perfect for couples looking for old school glamour with the wedding ceremony and reception all in one location. Glynde Place is an Elizabethan stately home set in acres of rolling private parkland overlooking the South Downs.  The ceremony would take place in The Gallery, a large grand room with wood panelled walls with enormous shuttered windows framing the beautiful views. After the ceremony, guests move downstairs into the Long Hall and can spill out onto a gravel terrace and then later into the marquee in the parkland. In the evening guests can gather round a huge fire pit to watch the sunset. Capacity for 200 guests.

All of the venues give access from 10am the day before your wedding until 4pm the day after and are set in the midst of the Sussex countryside just outside Lewes and about 10 miles from Brighton.

Dreamy venues plus the most talented team to take the stress away from wedding planning, you’d be in good hands with the BDB team.
