Afternoon, I have finally managed to finish this post off after faffing this morning with a new workspace. I keep getting headaches so decided to move next to a window (see good old instagram). I usually choose a picture of the couple for the main blog image but I saw this one of Sam in her Suzanne Neville gown and knew it was the one. There is the moment during your wedding morning when you finally put your dress on. The dress you have been agonising over for a very long time. Chosen with your closest friends and dreamt about night after night. When it is finally time to put on the dress you will be wearing to walk down the aisle, it is a wonderfully strange feeling and one I can’t explain. You have that to look forward to!

I let them choose their own dresses from Dessy, and they wore their own shoes. They all got a personalised pearl bracelet as a bridesmaid gift.
Keble College (ceremony), Springfield Lake (reception)
Please note, you are only able to get married at Keble College if you went to Uni, or teach there (which Samantha did).
Springfield Lake is a new venue (Sam and Laurie’s wedding was the first there). They haven’t yet got a website, but please use Cortina’s email address as the link to hopefully save you from getting enquiries. firstname.lastname@example.org
It really is impossible to choose … maybe when I got to the top of the aisle, a bit emotional but with Laurie there to calm down, or possibly the first dance, when the band came on and everyone was merry and having a good time. I also really enjoyed the time getting ready in the morning with the girls, which was really relaxed and lovely until we were all ready, which is when I started getting emotional!

All very DIY, made by friends and family. We were going for rustic with lots of hessian and chalkboard. Other than that, the theme was just copious amounts of food and drink!

Document everything as you go along, especially when choosing between suppliers (so you can see what you get for your money with each one). I think this is really important if you have a long engagement as well, because I found that when I was pulling together the final bits, I had to look back at what we’d agreed with suppliers early on.
I’m excited to be able to collaborate with So You’re Getting Married on many levels. Submitting real weddings is always a fantastic way to showcase my work to other couples, as well as a wonderful record for the bride and groom of the wedding being featured. Hopefully lots more to come from me including the take over of SYGM Pinterest board!
