Morning! As I said at the beginning of this post I will be uploading a post a day in the run up to Christmas (starting Dec 1st) but I thought I would start with my inspiration for this years decor. I try and change each room each year, last years living room look was a kind of golden Baboushka which was lots of red, blues, whites and splashes of gold. This year it is white and mercury glass. It’s that champagne, gold, silvery loveliness that I want all over the tree and around the room. The kitchen/dining room was red skandi last time and this year it will be vintage (I have a specific image in mind, I think). Not only are these wonderful Christmas ideas, but, hello weddings! Like most things in my life, they can quite often be transferred to a wedding situation and mercury glass would look stunning, especially in the colder months with lots of fairy lights and candles.

I spent the week having a look at what I already had, and purchased some new items. Pottery Barn has a whole mercury shop ( I can only think of Friends when I visit that website) but shipping to the UK is a ballache. If in doubt, shop at Cox and Cox…

Cox & Cox – 10 for £12.50

John Lewis – £4.50
Next – £22 (they have some wonderful items this year but I will not be shopping with them again after then signed me up for a credit account without my permission) I also bought this for the mantelpiece and these baubles.
I also bought these string bauble lights from Laura Ashley. No idea where I will put them but they looked cute. When everything arrives I will be blogging as I dress the house. I think I spent £60 in total on new decorations, I am fresh out of the family home so I’m still building up my stash each year, I assume one year I won’t buy any more? Right?!
Do you change your decor or stick to a beautiful tried and tested scheme? Is this all too early to be discussing Christmas? The answer to that is no. Real wedding on the blog this afternoon!
These look great, bright and light but very festive.
