On Hen Parties

By Lucy

It’s less than 2 weeks to go until our wedding, but today I wanted to talk about hen dos. I’m using the plural, because I ended up having 3! I’m not saying I’m milking this wedding, but to any brides-to-be reading this, my advice would be to take the opportunities to celebrate when they present themselves!

Minimoon Ideas from Carbis Bay Hotel | UK WEDDING BLOG

facebook-profile-picture By Rebecca

Whilst we were in Cornwall a couple of weeks back, we got to have an exclusive look at the soon to be finished new lodges at the Carbis Bay Hotel & Estate. We’ve been looking forward to seeing these as Carbis Bay is one of Cornwall’s most sparkly little bays and it looks like they’ll be something special indeed. As part of our stay at the Gannet Inn {here} we also got to use their spa for the afternoon which felt like we could have been abroad with the view out to the sun trap of a pool and views to the beach below. It’s a really exciting time for the hotel as these lodges are unlike anything else available in the UK. Imagine sitting by your own plunge pool overlooking that beach! Read More

Honeymooning in Cornwall, Bedruthan Hotel & Spa | UK WEDDING BLOG

facebook-profile-picture By Rebecca

For the second part of our Cornish stay last week we drove up the coast to Mawgan Porth, the stunning cliff lined bay that Bedruthan Hotel & Spa sits on. You might remember the views from our stay at The Scarlet Hotel a couple of years back? The hotels are sisters {I love how that’s a female term, it would sound weird saying that hotels are brothers?} and where the Scarlet is adults only and aimed at couples, Bedruthan is aimed at being family friendly. So do definitely bear this mind if thinking of a minimoon, there will be a lot of families and young children there but that being said, we certainly found it to be romantic enough for couples wanting to get away from everything too. I’ll start by saying that the exterior isn’t pretty, built in the 60s, this has a real retro/art deco kind of vibe which carries throughout. Ben joked and said that the colourful pool chairs made us feel like we were in Palm Springs. The rooms aren’t slick or smart or our usual boutique style, yet there are SO many things that we loved about Bedruthan and it really is an incredible resort on the coast.

Honeymooning in Cornwall, The Gannet Inn | UK WEDDING BLOG

facebook-profile-picture By Rebecca

Last week we travelled to Cornwall for a couple of days of mini-mooning {that’s the term used for a smaller version of a honeymoon if you’re new around here, or something you could take just after your wedding for a short break before planning a proper honeymoon later on}. Cornwall in the summer, and with the dreamy weather we had last week can’t be beaten. But I actually really love Cornwall year round and we’ve had some really cosy trips there in the Winter where you can sit by the fire, eat really good food {Cornwall is amazing for food!} and wrap up for beach walks. There’s just nothing better than getting away from the city and where else but Cornwall with countryside in the middle and dramatic coastlines all around. You can fly {into Newquay}, get the train or just jump in the car like we did. It is the furthest point of the UK but that makes it all the more magical an escape, worlds away from London. Carbis Bay, and St Ives, have always been a favourite of ours and last week we discovered a couple of new hotels. Our first night was spent at The Gannet Inn, a small boutique hotel in the best location.Read More

Best Men & Bridesmaid Outfit Shopping

The Best Men

From speaking to people I don’t think it’s that common for the bride to attend suit shopping. However, as much as I love my husband to be he’s the most indecisive man in the world so I went to ensure suits were chosen. We arrived before the best men to have a look around the high street. We were looking for something that was loose enough for the guys to dance in – really tight suits seem to be the trend and it’s just not my vibe. Tailored slim fit yes but super skinny suit trousers are a no.

Woughton House – Wedding Venue in North Buckinghamshire | UK WEDDING BLOG

By Laura

Hello! I’m back this afternoon with a wonderful wedding venue nestled in the heart of Buckinghamshire. Woughton House is a picturesque Georgian manor house set on tranquil grounds minutes away from the hustle and bustle of Milton Keynes. Originally, a family home in the 19th century, Woughton House is now proudly owned by MGallery by Sofitel and has opened its doors as a quaint hotel and wedding venue. I was kindly invited to its grand launch and treated to an overnight stay and here’s what I thought!

RSVP – does the P actually stand for painful?

Wedding planning has been a bit of a breeze so far and I have to admit I was feeling a little smug. We’ve been on the same page about what we want, who we want there & ticking off the to-do list has been nothing short of satisfactory. Then we spent an entire weekend wax sealing our invites to an inch of their lives. I popped them in the post box and had the biggest irrational fears – what if someone sets fire to the post box, what if I’ve sent people the wrong ones.

5 Weeks To Go

By Lucy

We’ve been planning our wedding since January 2017, so Harry and I are both fairly shocked to find ourselves suddenly with less than 5 weeks to go! Luckily, Harry’s freakish Excel knowledge and my Type A obsessive need for organising are lending themselves extremely well to this wedding planning malarkey. So, since it’s been 3 months since my last post around here (sorry about that), I thought I’d take you through some of what we’ve been up to wedding-wise:Read More
