a beautiful rustic farm editorial | uk wedding blog

Afternoon! We have the wonderful Katie from A Vintage House that Could on the blog sharing images of her recent shoot in a beautiful derelict farm. The shoot contains beautiful ideas and detailing for a rustic country wedding with a little bit of a twist. I agree with Katie that table decor is really important, because that is where your guests will be sat for a large portion of the day. You needn’t spend a fortune on the details but it helps to give it a decent amount of thought. Can we say hello to that beautiful Sanderson fabric?!

an Isle of Skye elopement | uk wedding blog

facebook-profile-picture By Phoebe

Good morning all, from the mountains of Slovenia yesterday, to a hand tying ceremony along the rugged coast of Skye today…who knows where we will be tomorrow? Hint. It is Yorkshire.

James and Leoni eloped to the Isle of Skye with just their two children and two friends, for a very intimate ceremony on the hillside. They followed the ceremony with a meal at The Three Chimneys. As you can imagine there aren’t many suppliers involved in an elopement, it seems quite tempting doesn’t it? And their whole day came in under £1000.

take me to the mountains of Slovenia | uk wedding blog

facebook-profile-picture By Phoebe

Good morning all! I am so so sorry for the little hiatus I had from blogging. I needed to get some stuff in order and sadly I just couldn’t find the time or energy to get my shit together to get out the weddings. Do not fear, not only am I back with fire in my belly for SYGM, but I behind the scenes I am also nearly ready to launch my new lifestyle blog Simply Weekend. I am hoping to launch at the end of April. It is basically an extension of The Weekend Edits but with a few added extras thrown in. I am busy photographing and writing on top of SYGM and vlogging but all will hopefully work in harmony with each other. I have give a few sneak peaks on insta, and I will continue to do so till the launch. I also changed my instagram name (I KNOW) to simply.weekend, so find me on there as I have lost a few followers because of it 🙁

Anywho! On to today’s beauty of a wedding. I don’t often blog overseas weddings, but if I do I like them to be within Europe and they have to speak to me. This one definitely did, in fact, it was the stunning scenery. The gorgeous mountains and the happy couple standing under the never ending sky saying their forevers. Meta and Albert both love hiking and spending time in the mountains, there was only one place they wanted their ceremony to happen.

Honeymooning at Shangri La’s Villingili Resort, The Maldives | UK WEDDING BLOG

facebook-profile-picture By Rebecca

Oh Shangri La Maldives, how do I even begin describing this paradise? This island was without a doubt the best honeymoon destination we have ever been to. It just seemed to be everything we wanted yet so much more. It’s like Shangri La took the holiday dreams right out of our head, from the bikes to cycle around the island to the sparkling sea that will take your breath away, to the incredible sunset dinners on the beach, and made it a reality. Villingili is one of the largest islands in the Maldives which you may find unusual as most others are tiny tiny islands you can walk around in about five minutes but the sense of space at this one actually made it all the better. And it’s a great option for those who are worried about going stir crazy on a smaller island for a week/fortnight which I hear from so many couples {mostly their husbands to be who can’t stand the thought of sitting still}. I can’t wait to share more below with you, if you’ve come for honeymoon inspiration then it really doesn’t get much better than this.Read More

Has bridesmaid dress shopping entered a new era?

bridesmaids

I ask this both as a bride to be and as a bridesmaid. With so many high street and online retailers now selling stunning and affordable bridesmaid dresses, is there really any point going to a bridesmaid dress fitter anymore?

First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes… THE HONEYMOON! (Sorry Annie)

Initially, Callum and I were not going to take a honeymoon immediately. This was partly because we both love to ski and we had dreamed of a really luxurious ski trip to Whistler or Colorado. The other reason was that we didn’t think we could afford it. Paying for the wedding is a mammoth thing… We have been saving like crazy for almost 2 years! I have also previously spoken about how I wouldn’t want to ask for money towards a honeymoon so that option was out. However, coming up to the T- minus 3 month mark, we realised that we were actually doing really well saving and a honeymoon was well within our grasp. With all the stress of planning a wedding (and lack of a ski holiday as a result) we decided to say f**k it, let’s do it! I also worried that if we didn’t do it now, we never would. So after LOTS of back and forth, asking Rebecca and the other SYGM brides for advice, and copious amount of googling locations/weather etc etc.. We have finally decided upon our trip!Read More
