Morning all. Oh we are bringing all the glamour this morning with Grant and Lorren’s beautiful day, whilst Lorren didn’t have a good experience at the boutique she bought her dress from, she looks gorgeous in her Hayley Paige gown. The touches of metallic and blush pink at the incredible venue set off the day perfectly, all in all, exceptionally jealous!

Venue: Askham Hall, Askham, Cumbria
Wedding photographer: Emma Hillier – She was amazing, just felt like having a friend with us the whole day. She was also a bit like a wedding co-ordinator, reminding the bride and bridesmaids to stop drinking prosecco and get ready!
Flowers: Flowerworld, Penrith
Bride’s dress /shoes: Bride 2 Be (Prestwich – No longer trading) awful experience in the end unfortunately, we only ended up getting the dress because I turned up unannounced with 4 of my bridesmaids, they ceased trading the next week and many brides were left without their dresses. The dress itself was Hayley Paige Blush collection and I loved it, just a shame about the boutique I used. Shoes – Ted Baker
Bride’s hair accessories/veil: Veil – Borrowed from a friend, Jules Bridal Boutique, Standish (Hair accessories)- would really recommend this boutique. Julie the owner came to my rescue when the shop I had got my dress from closed down and I needed alterations and accessories! She welcomed me and my mum with open arms as we were quite upset with the whole ordeal with the original dress shop. Julie and her team saved the day!
Bride’s hair /makeup: Emmy Denaro Hair & Make up, Wigan
Bridesmaids’/dresses/shoes/accessories: Purchased from wholesalers in Paris (Dresses), BMs wore their own shoes & flowers we made ourselves from faux flowers from ‘Country baskets’ Tyldesley.

Groomsmen’s outfits/accessories: Victor Valentine (Suit), MacGregor & McDuff (Kilt)

DJ/entertainment: Four Wise Monkeys (Band)-
Stationery: Various (Etsy, Ebay, Zazzle.com)
Décor/wedding details (did you have a theme?) Rose Gold/Pink colour theme
Catering/food/drink: Askham Hall, Askham, Cumbria
Wedding favours: Fudge sourced from Fudge Kitchen, High Street, Edinburgh
Honeymoon Destination: Excellence Playa Mujeres, Cancun, Mexico
Favourite Moment? It’s hard to choose one moment as we both loved the whole day! But if we had to we’d probably say the ceremony- We had planned to have the ceremony in the barn, however, there was an unexpected heat wave so last minute we changed the plan and had the ceremony outside. There wasn’t a cloud in the sky and the gardens looked beautiful!
Budget – Approximately £27k including Honeymoon; most expensive part was the venue & catering, we managed to save as much as we could in other areas.
Tips for those in the planning process: A couple of good money saving tips I picked up along the way; If possible when planning your wedding take advantage of ‘Black Friday’ weekend. We saved a lot of money by holding off until Black Friday. E.g. Zazzle.com were doing 50% off all wedding invites, so we saved hundreds of pounds. ASOS usually do 20% off everything so we saved on my wedding shoes etc. I also used my bridesmaids flowers as the flowers for the centrepieces (I had 8 BMs and 10 tables so just needed to buy 2 extra). Then one of the BMs collected them in and put them on the centrepieces before the guests arrived in the barn for the meal. Also don’t be afraid to ask your BMs to wear their own shoes. I just said to wear nude heels as I knew all my BMs had their own nude shoes, it saves you money and then they can’t blame you when their feet hurt 🙂
Where did you find your inspiration? I read lots and lots of wedding magazines, my friends got me a subscription to one as an engagement present (sorry I can’t remember the name of it!).
