One of the things that theBalm do really, really well are highlighters. Adding to their repertoire of well loved powder highlighters – Mary Lou Minizer, Cindy Lou Minizer and recent addition Bonnie Luminizer – come these liquid formulas – and I am beyond obsessed!
Available in two colours mimicking their powder counterparts are Mary Dew Manizer, which is great for lighter skin tones (vanilla sheen), and Bonnie Dew Manizer, perfect for darker skin tones (bronze sheen), these come in a chunky tube with a doe foot applicator for applying directly to the skin. I’ve been using a fluffy brush to blend these on to the top of the cheekbones as they have a lightweight but creamy formula, but you can also add them over the top of lip colour to add a metallic sheen, onto the eyelids as a cream shadow, mixed with moisturiser for a brightening base to foundation, and I’ve been using a big flat body brush to apply to the décolletage too for a supermodel-esque glow.
These are super easy to blend, whether you prefer to pat on to the high points of the face with fingertips, or dust on with a brush, or apply from the applicator and blend (my preference is always the former). They set for a long lasting finish, but there’s a little time to work and blend before they dry. They give an amazing glow to the skin, which can be built to be super strong or buffed down or patted on to skin for a softer finish.
And here it is after I applied Mary Dew Manizer on a model the other week, so you can see it in action.
These are going back in my makeup kit now, especially since I’d been after new fluid highlighters for a while now and my clients so far have really liked them. These are available now, and are £13.50 each for 5.5ml (though currently on offer from Feel Unique here).
