The favours were pieces of baklava – a sweet pastry made of layers of filo with lots of syrup and chopped nuts. This was a nod to my Greek Cypriot heritage. These were provided by the Bakers of Ealing who also made the wedding cake.

Make up was done by one of my best friends, Loren Smith.

Bridesmaids –

After some online browsing the bridal party all headed out to Regent Street for inspiration and we were lucky enough to find the perfect dresses in Mango. The shoes were from Asos and accessories were the bridesmaid’s own.

Beluga Catering provides in house catering at Bloomsbury House, and their food is absolutely delicious. We provided our own alcohol from Majestic for the drinks reception and wedding breakfast. Following this we got drinks from the venue’s bar. The venue was kind enough to source and stock particular drinks at our request to be served on the night. We requested Brewdog Punk IPA (Mike’s favourite) and Silent Pool Gin.

Highlights would include the ceremony, having photos outside in Bloomsbury Square which provided a lovely London backdrop on a beautiful sunny day, the speeches, the first dance and the dancing which continued on until 2am. It’s hard to pick out a particular moment – the whole day was perfect and we really could not have asked for any more.

Advice for those getting married –

if, like us, you are working on a particular budget but want to be able to offer your guests an open bar, look for venues (like Bloomsbury House) that offer BYO. We were drawn to the house anyway – it’s a beautiful venue – but this was certainly a plus which helped us keep within our budget.
