Afternoon all! You may have seen that a few weeks ago I packed my bags and went to stay at Oulton Hall for the night. The venue is situated in beautiful green landscaped gardens about 20 minutes outside of Leeds city centre. If you are looking for a Yorkshire wedding venue, this may be the one for you!
On arrival we entered the beautiful entrance hall and enjoyed a gin and tonic whilst we spoke to Caroline, one of the events co-ordinators at the venue. I could talk about weddings all day, I have been married for 7 years now but replan my wedding almost weekly. It is so nice talking to someone else who shares that passion. You could tell just from talking to Caroline that she invests herself fully in each couples day and will do whatever she can to turn their dream in to a reality.
The venue caters for small to large 100+ weddings, summer BBQs to intimate candle lit winter weddings. It can now also offer outdoor weddings should you fancy chancing our wonderful British summers. You can read more about the packages here.
We then went on a tour of the hotel, unfortunately it was torrential outside so we stuck to indoors. The decor is in keeping with the history of the house but with a few modern interior touches. Soft plush velvet seats in the restaurants, mirrored luxury lounge bar (good selection of gin!), huge fireplaces and glorious chandeliers all round. We had a look round a few of the rooms, exceptionally spacious suites for getting ready, and so many other smaller rooms for all of your guests. They also allow dogs!
The spa was calming and enticing and we hoped to go for a swim in the pool but we never got the chance as I fell asleep in the exceptionally comfy bed before dinner. Oops!
We then checked in to our beautiful room (101), which had just been renovated (they are updating their other suites too) and were overwhelmed with the size. There was so much room! After a little inspection I couldn’t resist any longer, I jumped in to the huge comfy bed and had a cup of tea. Looking around I could see how perfect it would be on the morning of the wedding. There was so much space for bridesmaids, make up and hair team, dresses to be hung up, big bathrooms to pamper in. The dual aspect Georgian windows let in so much light (would have been gorgeous on a sunny day) but in the evening it became a very cosy serene space. The bathroom was just perfection. I brought a bath bomb with me especially and enjoyed whilst watching Love Island!
Our room was at the front of the hotel and I was worried about noise but I didn’t hear a single sound and slept so well. We had a delicious breakfast (the evening meal was lovely too) and then set about the grounds as it had finally stopped raining.
Oulton Hall is set next to a golf course so there is a lot of greenery, and the landscaped lawns/planting would make for glorious wedding photos with the backdrop of the stunning 18th Century hall. I can’t really fault Oulton Hall, the website is easy to navigate but I don’t think the site does the venue justice. In fact, it makes the venue look a lot more dated than it is. If you are considering a near to Leeds venue then I suggest coming to Oulton for a spa day or maybe an overnight stay to check it out as I think you will be pleasantly surprised!
When we went, nothing was set up for a wedding but I managed to find this one from a recent post on Oulton Halls facebook page. You can see more on their website though!
I vlogged our trip too which you can see here.
Oulton Hall invited me to come and stay but as you know, I would never blog anything that wasn’t my true opinion.
