Jo Loves Fragrance and Candle Experience | UK Wedding Blog

Whilst I was away on holiday, I read the very inspiring autobiography of Jo Malone and knew as soon as I finished it I needed to experience her new brand Jo Loves for myself – a brand she has lovingly crafted post-JML for the last 6 years, with an idea to turn fragrance into an indulgent and interactive experience, and into a journey to discover something super unique. I was lucky enough to be invited to try two experiences – fragrance tapas and shot candle making, in which you both choose your perfect fragrance and create your own bespoke candle {and you know how us SYGM girls love a candle!}.

Jo Loves is tucked away in beautiful Belgravia, and is everything you’d expect from Jo – stylish, with plenty of clean, white space with signature red accents – cool, and contemporary. If you love fragrance, you will be obsessed – a store with such unique ideas and such a gorgeous aesthetic offers something for every fragrance lover, and it would be a perfect place to visit with your H2B or Maid of Honour to pick out wedding fragrances, or with your hens for a pre-wedding treat.

The fragrance line is just beautiful – of the 12 there is something for every taste, from hero scents such as citrus Pomelo, which was the first Jo Loves fragrance – inspired by white sandy beaches, fresh linen and sparkling iced water. There are some amazing bridal fragrance potentials, such as creamy Gardenia, which smells exactly the same as the flower, White Rose & Lemon Leaves, the super pretty floral Number 42. The Flower Shop, which is the fragrance I chose {although I did also pick up a 50ml Pomelo – I couldn’t decide!} There are also some earthier, duskier fragrances such as Smoked Plum and Leather, and then some real surprises like Mango Thai Lime, which literally smells like a cocktail!

Fragrance tapas is a chance to try each fragrance, and then experience the bath and body range – Bath Cologne is warmed within a tagine and released via a cloud of scented steam, Cleanser is shaken over ice and strained into a glass, and Lotion is whipped and foamed and applied to hand and arm with a paint brush.

The Candle studio is a place to experience the ready to buy candles as well as make your own bespoke shot candle. To begin with, you smell each base candle option – 12 options, including Petit Grain, Fig Trees, Mint Mojito, Salted Caramel, and Patchouli & Oakmoss. I chose the beautiful Charcoaled Lemons, but it’s really tough to decide as I loved most of them. Then the choice of shot – 15 to decide from, including Mango, Saffron & Oud, Log Fires, Paperwhites – I chose Frangipani. You can try them both together to see what the combination smells like on clever dual tester cards and then the shot candle is melted a little and placed into the base candle.  You can personalise the label too – so perfect for wedding gifts or to add to your tables as you can have your names & a date.

Jo Loves is such a perfect place for a fragrance {wedding or otherwise} especially if you love niche, interesting, indulgent fragrance that’s a real treat to choose! I’m already planning my next purchases – how many candles is too many?!

Fragrances start from £70 and candles £55 and are available both instore and on
