You wait ages for a facial, and then two come along at once! Ok, that doesn’t happen to everyone, but it did to me as both Clarins and Elemis kindly invited me to try treatments with them over the last few weeks – both perfect for pre-wedding treatments or for some hen pampering (or mini mooning if you are in the Capital).
So first stop was the gorgeous House of Elemis in Mayfair for a facial. When I arrived I was welcomed with a hot drink (cute tea pot no?) and then led to a treatment room where the super helpful therapist chatted about my concerns from the questionnaire I’d filled out, and suggested the Pro Collagen Facial to target fine lines, dehydration and first signs of aging – my main concerns. This is designed to –
- Improve appearance and firmness of skin
- Significantly increase skin hydration and moisture levels
- Deliver a progressive lifting effect
- Promote healthy cell renewal
- Protect against urban and environmental skin damage, preventing ageing.
We began with the Pro Collagen Cleansing Balm and I have to say I’ve just bought it and I’m obsessed. It’s funny when you have a facial as you are ultimately only concentrating on smells and sensation rather than product and packaging and just getting your makeup off as quickly as possible, and as soon as she applied the cleanser to take off my makeup, the smell and texture I just fell in love with (a solid to oil). One blissful hour later, post cleanse, mask, neck massage and more, and my skin felt hydrated, radiant and refreshed. My skin is forever dehydrated no matter what so I was given a prescription of suggested Elemis products after my treatment to target this.
Next I visited the Clarins BeautyBAR on a scorching day just after I attended the IIAA press day, and had the genius idea of walking from Holborn to Oxford Street in 23 degree heat, so by the time I arrived at John Lewis (where the BeautyBAR is housed) I was gasping for air con and to sit down! It’s the second time I’ve visited and this time I was back for a Jet, Set, Glow Facial – a limited edition treatment which is aimed at reviving and hydrating your skin ready for summer. This was just heavenly honestly – as well as cleansing, exfoliation and a mask, there was loads of facial massage and a hand and arm massage, both of which I love (why is it never the same when you massage your own face?) The products below are everything the treatment used, and as always, the Clarins therapist was professional, friendly and really knew her products.
“Clever cleansing and deep exfoliation will banish lack-lustre complexions while an ultra-hydrating mask will nourish and protect skin with a cocktail of plant powered products.”
It also felt like way longer than 30 minutes! This was a limited edition treatment for May/June, but as well as the core menu of treatments there are also new seasonal treatments which change each month – there’s details of the latest on the Clarins website. I felt pretty skin confident after so left with just tinted moisturiser on – not a big deal to many but it was to me (although clearly the brows had to go back on).
I have to say, £25 for 30 mins for all BeautyBAR treatments is just such a good price. I do love a facial, but I know like everyone that sometimes it’s hard to justify £70 or £80 + a month on top of makeup & skincare costs (of which mine can be extensive!) These are now 9 BeautyBAR locations listed here ~ any chance of one in Norwich Clarins?!
Both great facials from great brands – the former perfect for those looking for an in-depth, more luxurious pamper, and the latter great for those on a budget, or anyone who is time shy but looking for speedy results.
Have you visited either of these?
