Review of The Ned | UK WEDDING BLOG

If you haven’t heard of The Ned then where have you been?! The buzz around this eagerly awaited hotel has been building for months and it has now opened its doors, instantly joining the ranks of the hottest hotels in London. Situated in the heart of London’s banking district and originally designed by Sir Edwin ‘Ned’ Lutyens more than 1000 years ago, the new hotel has been reformed by the teams of Soho House and Sydell Group. The Ned is steeped in 1920s charm and the building’s Grade 1 listing means that many of the original features remain unspoilt such as the gorgeous green marble pillars and vault doors. The minute you walk through the front door you are greeted by beautiful checkerboard floor tiles and a pianist playing sultry tunes on the grand piano – cue my Instagram spam! It is a décor that cannot be replicated and it helps give The Ned its effortless style and sophistication. It would be very hard for a bride to not immediately fall in love with the incredible atmosphere that this 252-room hotel boasts.

Let’s talk about the event rooms. Are you having an intimate wedding surrounded by close family and friends or is your guest list ever-growing? Whatever the case, there is no need to worry! The Ned has six rooms to choose from, seating anything from 10-200 people and every single room has its own distinct style. The Saloon Room is bright and fresh with the versatility to cater to any wedding theme, while the Tapestry Room offers a sumptuous slice of historical luxury. All the event spaces are beautifully finished with chandeliers and curved top windows that allow plenty of natural light. There are various different packages on offer, ranging from a few drinks and hors d’oeuvres to a four-course meal, and the hotel allows you to collaborate with their chefs to create your perfect menu. And did I mention that if you do book to get married at the Ned you get your own exclusive roof terrace?! Think canapes and champagne, overlooking the city with St Paul’s Cathedral in the distance celebrating your big day with your nearest and dearest – dreamy.

If, at this point, you think that The Ned’s facilities sound like standard hotel fare, then think again! Also within the hotel’s walls there is a hair salon run by stylist-to-the-stars Miguel Perez, a nail bar called Cheeky and a make-up parlour that can give you the perfect wedding look. There’s even a barber’s shop for the groom and his groomsmen – all you need to get ready for your wedding under one roof! Let’s not forget the spas and rooftop pools where you and your girls can get well and truly pampered from head to toe so you can feel incredible for your big day. You get access to all of these facilities as part of your booking so you really get the most for your money.

Dining options are plentiful too with seven different restaurants to tickle your taste buds, whether you’re looking for French fine dining or more laid-back British classics. There are also numerous cocktail bars dotted around, and who needs an excuse to sip on a Bellini when you’re about to get married? The most visually striking bar is through an original 20 tonne vault door that still has all the safe deposit boxes on the walls; it was so exclusive that I wasn’t allowed to take any photos!

If you’re looking for a venue that combines 1920s glamour with modern luxury in the heart of the capital, then The Ned is the only place to go. With so much to see and do within the hotel itself, you could stretch your wedding celebrations out over a week if you wanted to. Alternatively, The Ned could be the perfect mini-moon spot if you fancy a little break with your hubby-to-be, away from the madness of planning your wedding. It has only been officially open for 3 weeks but it comes as no surprise that it has already received a 5-star rating – now all I have to do is tell all my friends about it so I can attend a wedding there myself!
