a spring house update with Desenio and a discount code | uk wedding blog

Afternoon all! It feels so nice being able to write about house stuff on the blog, one of my new years resolutions was to resurrect the lifestyle element of the blog, which I have been adding to a little bit but I can finally add some house pics. I am actually going to do a full kitchen post with photos before/after, links to all the suppliers used, and what I would do differently. But today, a little wall refresh with some pretty prints and a discount code for you.

Desenio got in contact with me a little while ago and asked if I would like to pick out a few prints, and in exchange I can have a discount code for you. If you’re here for the code it is phoebe25, lowercase and gives you 25% off posters and prints. When I went on the website I was totally overwhelmed by the choice, I knew I wanted something for a bare wall in the kitchen then a potential gallery wall in the guest room. I wanted to pick out prints that would work well in this house but would suit our next one. I wanted to choose things that had a little bit of meaning and weren’t totally faddy so that they would last. The prints arrived rolled up in the tube above, all were in perfect order and the frames all survived transit too, wrapped in cardboard, bubble wrap and those weird air pocket things.

I knew that I wanted something botanical so went for a few floral prints for both rooms starting with the kitchen. I saw the herbs print first and worked from there, I didn’t want to add any colour as I love that the deep blue of the kitchen units speak for themselves. I added 2 word prints and then saw a little cotton plant print in the same colours of the kitchen and I couldn’t resist it. I think I may shimmy the order round every now and again but I think that they fill the wall perfectly.

The prints were: Bon Appetit, Cotton Plant, This Kitchen is for Dancing (which they do in a pretty mint green and gold) and Herbs (they also do it in colour, and a really lovely Vegetables one.

All of their prints are available in different sizes, these are 30×40. They were all £7.99 -£9.99each. The frames are also from Desenio and are their basic black frames. I was surprised with the quality of the frames actually, similar to the Ikea Ribba’s.

The living walls are a gorgeous shade of Farrow and Ball Downpipe, I was sat choosing prints for the white walls of the guest room and was really struggling as there was just too much choice on such a blank canvas. I then saw a gold frame and gold foil ampersand and thought that it would look amazing against the grey…so I removed my 3 fox prints and replaced them with a little gallery wall. Now, I am much more in favour of a mismatched, higgledy-piggledy approach. I don’t like it when all the pictures are in lines, seems so soulless. And also, easier to hang things this way. Ha. I knew I wanted some golds, pinks and maybe a could of monochrome word prints.

I chose the M (due to Michael and me being a Miller), the Thistle because I am half Scottish and the Maple Leaf because Michael grew up in Canada. I then chose the pink geo deer and the triangles because I thought they’d look lovely against the dark grey. I then wanted to add a couple of word prints so opted for love, because ya know. And Live Simply because that is something I want to achieve in 2017. Finally was a little butterfly print, which reminded me of when we used to spend summers at my nana’s trying to catch Cabbage butterflies on her lavender plants.

These prints ranged from £2.29 – £9.99. The frames, gold and black also from Desenio.

I then added a gold star from Culinary Concepts (just looked and its in the sale!!) and the Kasbah mirror I picked up from Cox and Cox in the sale just after Christmas. This room is almost finished, just a new light fitting which I have chosen but need to order, new sofas and a coffee table. The bathroom is taking priority at the moment but I hope to finish in here before the summer. NOW, do I paint the door white? I think its the wrong colour for the room and would look better white, especially against the grey, what do you think??

The 25% discount code: is phoebe25

only work from Tuesday-Thursday, and cannot be extended.

always written in small letters for example “ phoebe25” and not  “ PHOEBE25 ”

You gotta do it so I know you\'re real! *

Paint it white! And now I need to convince Rob that we should do a gallery wall – because I also really dislike them all in a straight line! xo
