Our third and final stop in the Seychelles was to be at The Doubletree, by Hilton, Allamanda Resort and Spa. It’s a small hotel of just thirty rooms set in the south of the main island Mahe and just a half an hour ride from the airport. You’ll still find the Seychelles trademark incredible beaches here but it’s a more family friendly budget option.

It doesn’t have quite the same luxe feel as the other two resorts we stayed at but there are still  a lot of things we loved about it. Especially cute extras like being greeted with the famous doubletree cookies and drinks on arrival.

On arrival we were presented with a voucher for a short welcome massage at the spa which was a real treat. The spa building built into the rocks and overlooking the beach so you can hear the waves as you have your treatment. I liked this a lot. If only all resorts offered this! It was the perfect way to start our stay and unwind.

The hotel is one main building rather than individual villas like at Labriz or the next stop Northolme but then this is reflected in the price. The rooms have been cleverly designed so that they all have ocean facing spacious balconies and were comfortable and perfectly adequate.

The setting and beach stand out, the sea so sparkly and clear where you can kayak or snorkel to your hearts content. The palms that sway in the breeze and the boulders that make you feel like you’re on a castaway island. You’ll find a large strip of sand right in front of the hotel and at low tide you can explore the beaches round to the left and right. We loved watching the fruit bats fly above, it all feels so exotic.

There’s a central infinity pool on the decked terrace that looks out over the sparkly sea and comfy loungers to relax upon. Pure heaven!

There are two restaurants, Palms for buffet breakfasts {ask the chef to make fresh pancakes for you} and dinner plus Ocean view bar for snacks, lunches and a wide drinks menu. The restaurant felt a little canteen like at times but you can choose to have a special menu for a candlelit dinner if you wish. We did this on our second night, a more romantic and intimate experience than the family friendly atmosphere in the restaurant. The food was also much higher quality when cooked fresh than from the buffet.

The Hilton group took over the hotel just three years ago and this is reflected in the new interior decor. I loved the lobby and bar area with the log wall, tropical plants and gallery displays as well as the patterned orange fabrics. So on trend. I find hotels can be a great source of home inspiration.

We had a couple of service and food issues during our stay however the hotel were very keen to make sure all guests are happy and did try their hardest to rectify them. I would also recommend asking for a room on the right hand side of the hotel or higher up as we had a noisy Saturday night with a DJ below us.

Whilst it may not be the place of honeymoon dreams {compared to our other two stops Northholme and Labriz} it is certainly a viable option should you wish to reduce the cost of a trip to the normally very expensive Seychelles. It’s also definitely worth considering if you’re a family with young children splitting your time here with the exclusive and more expensive Labriz to get the best of both worlds.

You can see more in the vlog below. Up next, the third and final post… Hilton Northolme {you’re in for a treat!}

{Best time of year to visit: With an average temperature of 27°C, and a range that rarely drops below 24°C or rises above 32°C it is rarely too hot and almost always perfect beach weather. Of course, like anywhere in the tropics it does rain, but showers tend to be brief, lasting just a couple of hours, and are often localised to one island or even just one area of an island. During the year the driest months are between May and September, with the wettest weather in November, December and January – but even during these months there will be plenty of sunshine before and after the showers.}
