Morning all! I hope you had a lovely weekend? My Weekend Edit will be up this evening with an update on my past week. This morning we are covering wedding guests outfits with Simply Be. I started following Iskra Lawrence on instagram at the beginning of the year, I fell a little bit in love with her, her ethos and her body positivity message. I was so pleasantly surprised to see her appear in Simply Be’s new TV advert. Simply Be caters for women a size 12 and up, they carry a great range of all types of dresses, that you know are going to fit you in the right places. I am still saying yes to wearing black at weddings. Get on board!
With all of the focus being on the bride and groom, it all too easy to forget that weddings are special events for everyone. Most guests look forward to the day. It is a chance to splash the cash and buy something special, and look great in the photos, so today’s post is all about the guests. Specifically, wedding outfit dresses that are set to be popular during AW16.
For the second year running maxi dresses are all the rage. Designers are still having fun with this classic cut. The fact that many have opted to use richer, heavier, more luxurious fabrics for their autumn collections makes these a great option for a wedding. Paired with a suitable wrap or shawl you will not only look fantastic, you will be protected from the chill of a cool autumn day.
Some of the maxi dresses I have seen this year feature beaded bodices, and beautiful flowing skirts. These look great for a wedding, and some are so richly embellished that they could easily be worn as a bridesmaid dress. For a bride on a tight budget the fact that you can pick them up in High Street stores, for a low cost, is a big plus.
Stylish print dresses
There are also plenty of print dresses available, this year. They come in a range of styles, cuts and colours. Therefore, it really does not matter what type of dress you like you are bound to find something suitable. If you choose wisely, you can easily get more use out of your wedding outfit, by adding a jacket to make it look more formal. Thus creating the perfect outfit for an evening meal in a nice restaurant, or maybe even something you could wear to the office. I love this floral shirt dress, very anthropologie!
Party style dresses
While we are on the subject of getting more out of your wedding outfit, we really should talk about party dresses. Again, there are some nice ones available.
Many would be ideal for wearing to a Christmas party, but could just as easily work for a friend’s autumn wedding. Something you could bear in mind when shopping for your outfit.
Lace dresses can easily be accessorised in different ways, so that they could work for either a wedding or a festive party. Many designers have included at least one in their autumn/winter collections. Again, they are available in a range of cuts, lengths and styles. As a result, it is relatively easy for you to find one that will flatter your figure.
Embellished dresses are also worth considering, but be careful not to buy one that is too elaborate if you are planning to wear it again. Look for a style that you know you would be happy wearing in a more casual setting to make sure that you have the option to wear it again. I adore this one for guests, and how beautiful would it be for bridesmaids?!
So, there you have it a super quick roundup of some of the autumn/winter 2016 dresses that would be fantastic for a wedding. Let me know if you pick anything up. I am hunting for an work christmas party at the moment, very much loving something embellished.
