Where I last left off, I was wrapping things up in New York and furiously scribbling away at a bunch of posts to schedule for the time I planned to be in London (and thus banned from anything that might remotely be construed as working, paid or no). I’d hoped, right now, to be writing up my final pre-wedding thoughts to share with you all. But that’s not what’s happening at all.
In short, I am not getting married. For privacy reasons, I don’t want to go into much detail, but suffice it to say that the challenges of short-distancing our long-distance relationship were greater than I’d anticipated. And after a lot of turmoil, we ended up calling things off. I’m back home in New York now, feeling an incredible mix of shame and relief and guilt. I’m confident that calling the wedding off was the right thing to do, but that doesn’t mean it’s been easy in the slightest.
It’s not how I wanted this story to end, but there you have it. Thanks to everyone who’s followed my wedding journey on here. I’ve loved writing for SYGM, and while it’s more than a bit embarrassing to have to come back with this update, I’ll always look back fondly on my time as a blogging bride.
