Summer is still a way away (although now finally in sight), but last weeks Summer makeup post got me thinking about holidays, and honeymoons, and the gorgeous time lots of you brides are going to have after your weddings, whether that’s straight after or with a little gap. I was also reading some of Rebecca’s amazing Honeymoon posts to try to get inspiration for our October holiday (we never ever plan ahead with holidays and booked our last holiday a week before we left, but I so want this year to be different – it sounds spontaneous and fun but it was tres stressful!)
So, with some old and some new, I thought I’d share an edit of a few beauty buys that I’ll be taking with me when the time arrives (there’s one hell of a wedding season happening first!) Do let me know what your must haves are!
Bare Minerals Bronzing Serum
A super natural alterative to powder bronzers which can sometimes sit flat and heavy on the skin, and contour creams which can look obvious, this is such a gorgeous, lightweight natural product! With just the right amount of irridescance, it’s easily buildable by buffing into the skin to give a golden glow, or concentrating around the bone structure for a naturally defined face.
Dr Lipp Original Nipple Balm For Lips
I recommend this to so many of my clients, because it’s just such a handy product ~ I also bought this recently for my sister who is breast feeding – as it started life as a cracked nipple balm for nursing mothers! Similar to 8 hour cream but sans scent, this is perfect for dry patches, lips, sunburn, windburn, grazes, and to boot is organic. Lasts forever, works for everything! I also recently used it for an edgy glossy eye on a shoot and it looked amazing for that too.
By Terry Hylauronic Blush
With ultra-staying power and a blast of hydration, this is the ultimate in lightweight, unmovable natural colour. Pop on the apples of the cheeks with fingers, a blending brush or even dab onto lips for a beautiful holiday fresh glow.
Ultra Sun Daily UV Hair Protector
As we all know, chlorine, sun, salt water, and UV can damage hair and the last thing you want is to return from honeymoon with fried tresses. This not only protects hair from UV, but locks in colour and keeps hair protected from strong sun rays. Try treating your hair with a deep conditioning mask a couple of times whilst you’re away too- or pop a little oil through dry ends after washing in the evening – remember in hot climes which our skin and hair isn’t used to, hydration is key!
Creed Virgin Island Water
This to me, is the smell of the most idyllic holiday – Lime, Basil, Bergamot, Ylang Ylang, Jasmine ~ I honestly always think it smells of coconut too! It’s not cheap, I am aware, but it is the most gorgeous breezy, sunsetty (!), tropical, cocktail smell – and if you buy it for honeymoon, you’ll forever think of your gorgeous holiday when you smell it for years after. If you like different, sweet, fruity, unusual perfumes you’ll love.
You have to have bright or pastel nails on holiday – it’s the law. They look amazing with a tan, add pops of colour to your holiday vibes and generally make you feel cheerful. These new Barry M coconut infused varnishes help to hydrate nails and have a gorgeous glossy gel like finish. At £4.99 each you can change your nails as much as you want! (Let’s face it, holiday is the only time you’ll ever have time to paint them that often!)
Have you got your honeymoon booked yet? Where are you heading?
