Things have been a little quiet on the wedding planning front, but we’ve been putting the finishing touches to our invitations and I can’t wait to share them with you all!
Last time I blogged, we’d just chosen our Bridesmaid’s dresses – a very exciting day with my two fave girls, which ended with yummy food and cocktails and discussing how the heck I’m going to pee in my wedding dress (seriously, how?)
Since then, I haven’t really had anything new to report, as we’ve been busy working on our invitations!
I originally wanted to make them myself. I had this vision of hand-painting each one to give it a personal touch, but in reality, that’s a heck of a lot of work. I don’t have the time or the patience – or the artistic skill, for that matter – to put down what was in my head onto paper. Luckily, I have a friend who can.
Our good friend, Carina, has crafted our gorgeous bespoke invitations from scratch, and she’s done a bloomin’ good job. Without giving too much away, she’s managed to capture the theme of the day with an injection of both our personalities and lifestyles. They’re ‘our’ invitations; bespoke and not just any ol’ thing you can order online, which is exactly what we wanted.
We’re hoping to send them out in the next couple of weeks, which may seem a little bit soon – traditionally, you’re supposed to give them out 6-8 weeks before the wedding, but we aren’t doing Save-the-Dates, and I’ve already had friends asking when it is so they can put it in the diary, so we figured we might as well send them out sooner rather than later.
Once our guests have them in their hands, I’ll be able to upload a picture to show them off, however we’d rather keep that a secret for now. I’ve included a snippet so you can see, without giving too much away!
Once they’ve all been sent out, I’ll write about our experience here, including all the hurdles we faced, and give some tips on creating your own bespoke invitations, as we did face a few hiccups – in fact, we actually recently received an invitation to Rob’s cousins wedding that didn’t have an RSVP address on. It’s so easily done; things can get forgotten as there’s so much information to display.
I suppose I just wanted to keep you all in the loop as to where we are with our planning at the moment. I’ve been getting quotes for flowers too, there’s a gorgeous little florist in the next village along…
…but more on that later!
