Georgies the Florist, Reading www.georgiesflorists.co.uk Brides own flower shop, helped by a team of friends and family even the groom! My Mum and my friend Mel made my bouquet, apparently its bad luck to make your own, I chose every flower that I loved, it had roses, orchids, sweet peas, peonies, berrys, ivy trailing foliage, I pulled out the flowers I wanted in my bouquet from what id ordered and told them I wanted it big and they did an amazing job, it smelt amazing, I put it on my nans grave the day after the wedding as I didn’t want to throw it.
I made the bridesmaids bouquets and buttonholes and we all worked as a team to create 12 table centres, two top table designs, one floor runner, 40 jars and vessels filled with flowers to scatter round the reception and garden and the house, we decorated the lych gate and the church door with an archway made of hydrangeas, roses, stocks, larkspur, peonies and ivy we also made topiary trees out of buckets, cement, broomsticks and used oasis balls and chicken wire to make arrangements to line the aisle with, using hydrangea, lilies, roses and delphiniums.
We hired a gardener called Keith to help us get the garden ready for the wedding, he planted dahlias and peonies and delphiniums, foxgloves and sweet Williams to suit our colour scheme and if I saw something I liked I bought it and he just found the perfect place for it, he really was excellent, the garden looked stunning. It was so lovely to have the reception at home, we invited all the neighbours to the evening and the party carried on til gone 3am, nobody wanted it to end and because we weren’t restricted by a venue it didn’t have to!

Whimsical woodland wedding with flowers EVERYWHERE!
My mum bought a load of jars from hobbycraft and filled them with our favourite sweets, fungum mushrooms for me and pink and blue jelly spogs for Wayne she topped them with floral patterned fabric and popped stickers from wedding of my dreams.com with our names and the date. My neice and nephew were helping her fill the jars but ended up eating a lot of the sweets so we had a mad dash to get more the night before the wedding!
Light Grey Suit from Next, shoes black from next, wayne wanted a simple suit, not top hat and tails, this took longer to find than my dress!
Groomsmen’s outfits/accessories: Slaters, Suits bought from slaters, shoes groomsmens own
My wonderfully talented friend Kim owns her own cake company and made our cake and incorporated all the elements she already knew about us and made fairy figures of us, I let her have free reign to design something cool and I was blown away it also tasted amazing! http://www.cakestartsandarts.co.uk 07872941334
Stella York bought from Bride to be in Reading, (www.bridetobe.co.uk) i only tried on 6 dresses. Last thing i’d ever thought id go for but it was so comfortable. I bought no less than 6 pairs of shoes for this wedding i’m more of a shoe girl than a dress girl, however i wore cowboy boots for the ceremony (loved them and they were so comfortable and my something blue, little nod to my nan there ) and simply forgot to get changed into my other shoes, the whole day went so fast!
Bride’s hair accessories/veil: Jon Richard in Debenhams for hair accessory and Veil from Bride to be
My friend Kate Vincent did my make up and my hair dresser Lou Lou from Dinamix in Reading did my hair and my mums and one of the bridesmaids on the morning of the wedding. I asked for Big Dolly parton type hair and she clipped in some extensions because my hair just would not grow quick enough, When I got to Wayne at the alter he asked me where I’d got all that hair from, it cracked me up!
The perfume: Victor Rolf Flowerbomb
Bridesmaid dresses actually came from ebay, wouldn’t recommend this, could only find the short dresses I wanted from there though, paid more to have them made to fit in a shop in Reading and paired them with cowboy boots from amazon and flower crowns of roses freesia and ivy to finish the look we added some ivory ribbon round the waist with a diamante buckle
My stepdad Andy surprised me with a horse and carriage to go to the church in, it was amazing and my niece and nephew came with us, they were so excited, other drivers were overtaking and waving as they did, we went over the motor way bridge and cars and vans were beeping and waving. It made me 45 minutes late for the wedding ceremony and it was the longest journey of my life but it gave me time to stop and think after all the stress and work of it all it was actually happening and I shed a little tear and Andy asked why I was crying and I said I’d just never been so happy and said good, but pack that in else you’ll look a state by time we get there…. Precious.
We flew to Crete the day after the wedding for a week of R N R and are planning to go to Thailand and Bali later this year.
Adam Nicholas Films www.adamnicholasfilms.co.uk I found Adam on youtube, after watching one of his wedding videos for a couple id done the flowers for, and it was exactly what I was looking for, his photography was awesome too so decided to book him for photos and video we had an engagement shoot in may and he made us feel at ease in front of the camera straight away.
Kalm Kitchen did the food and everyone is still talking about how amazing it was and Orchid mobile bars in Reading provided our cash bar. We served Pimms and Budweiser for welcome drinks. We had smoked duck, ham egg and peas for starter, Poached chicken with summer vegetables and roasted new potatoes for the main and a choice of strawberry and pistashio millefuille or a Kalm Kitchen Chocolate brownie with honey comb ice cream and a sesame shard for dessert. We had a smores bar and a patisserie bar in the evening after serving pulled pork brioche buns and fish and chips in cones while the party was in full swing
No strings Attached, band from Basingstoke. www.nostringsattachedband.co.uk They learned a slow version of “candy shop” by 50 cent for our first dance and everyone loved it! They had the dancefloor full all night they were fantastic.
Hire the best suppliers you can afford, the moment Trudy from Kalm kitchen arrived on the day about 7.30am and took over all the running of it was the moment I relaxed and started to enjoy it.
