Goooood morninggggg!! We are kicking off the week with some pretty inspiration from Helen, editor of The Wedding Bazaar, fellow blogger and all round lovely lady. Helen’s blog is a lot more fashion led than SYGM so if you love all things sartorial then make sure you give her blog a look.

I love the richness of this shoot, the colours are gorgeous and the inspiration can easily be applied to your own wedding. Gems will be big in 2016, but even if the stones aren’t your thing, the colour palette they bring is stunning. Helen explains her inspiration behind the shoot below. Enjoy!

The shoot was inspired by my long love for gemstones and their respective meanings. On my own wedding day I carried rose quartz and moonstone in my bridal purse which are representative of love and passion.  It was whilst explaining this to Laura Power Photography we hit upon the idea of a gemstone inspired wedding shoot.

We envisioned dreamy soft pinks and deep amethyst purples to juxtapose perfectly with smokey charcoal hues and opulent golds.

Manorbier Castle is a wildly romantic family run wedding location and was simply perfect for our shoot. Perched on a rural clifftop, nestled just above a secluded beach with magnificent wild rolling waves it is simply breathtaking.

We were given free reign of the entire castle and so utilised the gorgeous ceremony and reception hall. The magnificent gold gilded mirror truly added a regal touch to these pics and the rest of the faded patina complimented the gem stones wonderfully!

Our florist extraordinare, Lola of Walnut and Willow, embraced the purple and pink hues of the gemstones we selected and got the brief immediately.  We wanted to include fragrant and exquisitely beautiful herbs with eucalyptus leaves whilst adding some blue tones with thistles and bold succulent plants. The flora table runner smelt heavenly.   In amongst the fragrant foliage, quartz candles votives from junior geo held flickering flames that warmed up the room and create a cosy vibe that contrasted beautifully with the raw stone walls evident throughout Manorbie Castle.

The rustic decadence continued with hammered gold bowls overflowing with vibrant gem stones symbolising love and passion nestled on top of charcoal linens. Gold cutlery with a elegant celtic loop on the bottom nestled beautifully alongside smoky crystal wine goblets provided by White House Crockery Events.  The Watercolour calligraphy suite lovingly crafted by Harriet De Winton matched the purple tones in the foliage and gems perfectly whilst sitting atop the semi transparent pink hues of the charger plates.

Of course what could be more perfect to complete each place setting than an individual agate slice perfect for an individual keepsake…

Our first Bridal look was soft and romantic which the Tatiana gown from Lorie X was just perfect for. It has a gorgeously romantic silk embroidered bodice that flows down to a soft chiffon skirt with printed flowers adorning the bottom in purple and lavender tones.  A quartz headband offered a modern take on a traditional bridal headpiece and the low back on the gown was wonderfully demure with a hint of sexy to it.

The quartz necklace and and rings by the Serpents Club and Lola Rose added a simple yet contemporary finishing touch.

Megan’s hair was worn long, loose and tousled, fabulously styled by Emily Porter. The makeup soft and shimmering with subtle charcoal hues on the top eyelids to enhance the colour of her eyes.

Manorbier is not only a fabulous location itself, it’s also minutes away from a secret, secluded beach which was a perfect place for the second location of this shoot.

Down in the sand dunes we embraced the bounties of nature and worked with a rustic piece of driftwood and the sparkling sea as a back drop. It was like one wonderful boho adventure.

When it came to make up Emily gave Megan a sleek purple lip and layered bronze and gold shadows on her lids to create a more dramatic smokey eye.  A pretty pink, blush kept the look youthful and playful.

The front of Megain hair was braided in to an on trend plait. The piece de resistance came in the form of a hand embroidered head piece embellished in rich purples and pinks and loving created by talented newcomer AM Faulkner.

Bridal separates are continually increasing in popularity and these beauties from E & W Couture are no exception.  We paired a tulle circle skirt with a sheer luxe crop top encrusted with seed pearls and dimantes.

We finished the outfit with punchier and bolder quartz necklaces from The Serpents Club and in true boho style Megan wore decadently adorned footless bridal sandals from Elegant Steps which she really didn’t want to take off!!

As the sun set over the sea we headed back to the castle to get the final shots of the wonderful cake created by the award winning Rachel at The Little Cake Cupboard.  With buttercream frosting hints of luxe gold and decadent rock candy its was a dream to style {and smell}  and tasted every bit as good as it looked!
