Carrying on our feast of beautiful outdoor weddings, we are now lakeside in Hampshire. It definitely help of one of the families have a gorgeous plot of land to hold the wedding, and this is definitely the case for Charlie and Matt. I love the little touches of the country, adding in Matts background in game keeping and you have a very beautiful wedding indeed.

My fabulous friend Vicky Waters ,Create, Salisbury worked her magic on myself and on my gorgeous girls while my talented friend Emma Potter did our make up.
3 dresses… One hour..and I chose Raimon Bundo, brought from Beautiful Brides, South Bourne. It was one of the easiest decisions of the wedding, it felt so fantastic but not to over the top… And most importantly, could dance all night long in it!
Shoes – New Look
Necklace – Posh Totty designs
My sister Becky and Jackie wore olive/sage green dresses from House Of Fraser, Accessorize gladiator sandles & rose gold feather necklace and earrings Not on the high St.
After a little mishap my mother in law and matts nan came to the rescue ( this wasn’t their only rescue!) I’m awful with flower names, I’m more “I like the one that looks like…” So after trolling through lots of pictures, trying to keep it linked into our casual country theme we decided to use lots of greenery, ferns, ivy ,eucalyptus and adding it touches of dusty pinks and calming creams with roses, lisianthus, spray carnations, butterfly gladioli and gypsophila .
My clever aunties used similar to decorate the willow hearts that we made, that helped dress the church & the marquee.
With help from a friend Alison Newton, came up with a simple invite incorporating the country theme ( matts a part time game keeper … Hence the pheasants !) the name tags, table numbers & table plan were all created by hand.
So hard to pin point an exact moment as the day was perfect to us, full of smiles and laughter ..but I will never forget Matts smile when he looked around -as he stood at the alter as I walked down the aisle .
All hired from Moss Bross, Salisbury… Surprised matt with engraved cricket bat and ball cuff links.
Matts nan is amazing and worked non stop to help with wedding. She created the most beautiful fruit wedding cake, decorating flowers of the wedding out of sugar! It literally blew me away when I saw it!
We tried to keep it really relaxed, country and fun. We used lots of greenery, ivy etc to dress the marquee, matts mum spent hours making bunting and myself and mum gave ourselves numerous burns with the hot glue gun putting together jam jar lanterns, tin can wine coolers, tissue paper garlands and heaps of hessian!!
The venue…no brainer…matts parents own a beautiful plot of land just outside Romsey where they run their family business, the lodge & the lakes was the perfect spot for our wedding & it meant so much to the both of us and family that we were able create one of most memorable days of our lives in a place where we enjoy to spend so much time . We used Godney Marquee, Exeter, who provided us with a clear span marquee that over looked the lake but sat in with the surrounding trees and greenery beautifully at Dandys Ford Fisheries and Tea Rooms.
Our favourite food on one of our most memorable days only seemed right, so after gorgeous nibbles post church ,each table had a gorgeous feast of homemade lasagne, fresh salads and breads & sweet treats of my mums brownies and matts mums white chocolate cheese cake. The evening we wanted to keep things simple so local cheeses, Fudges biscuits, Matt’s mums chutneys, cold joints of ham and beef, as well as our favourite sweet treats provided by my hen party girlies ..Rice Krispie cakes, lemon drizzle cake, cup cakes, and more brownies!!!
We found Jake through an old friend from school, after browsing his incredible Instagram pictures of his work , we got in touch and arranged to meet down the lakes so George and himself could get an idea of what they were going to be working with. Il never forget the day they turned up mid August, it was pouring down with rain and we were just stood out side, in our rain coats over looking the lakes. I know I was hoping that the weather would be slightly better for our day….
We disappeared off to the Lake District to Hidden River Cabins with our 3 working cocker spaniels, left over cheeses and chutneys and red wine!! A week away with no phone signal, a book for me, fishing rod for matt and plenty of walkers for the dogs! Perfect!
On the day ..Take 10/15 minutes out with your new spouse, walk away from the party and look back on it ( with a glass of something bubbly!) take in your family, your friends ,all there for you both! It’s a memory picture that will stick with your forever! ( Thanks to my sister and brother in law for that idea…) Your wedding is such an important day for the both of you but its not “The” only memorable day … It’s the start of them… So stick closely to the budget and don’t be afraid to ask friends and family for help…it made the day so much more meaningful to us.
And ( my sisters words that got me through…) ‘don’t over stress the little stuff’ …!!!
