5 of the Best…Autumn Fragrance Launches |UK Wedding Blog

You know when September hits and new fragrance launches become both heavier and headier that Autumn is truly imminent, if not already here. It’s time to step away from light floral fun and move toward bigger and bolder perfumes for Autumn and there’s plenty of gorgeous new releases to choose from. Fragrance is such a personal thing, as you’ll know if you’ve ever tried to purchase one for anyone else, but here’s my pick of the newness – I’ve tried to offer a selection of different types of fragrance – some bold, some subtle – in the interests of accommodating different tastes!

JMl Mimosa & Cardamom 100ml

~ Jo Malone Cardamom and Mimosa

This is so gorgeous, and my pick for an Autumn bridal fragrance. Powdery, soft but distinctive, this is such an interesting smell as it has a real warmth to it, giving it a comforting spiciness which isn’t overwhelming but definitely lasts on the skin. Created with “British Bohemia” in mind, this is a floriental fragrance which I think will appeal to many fragrance tastes, as the spiciness is hidden under the powdery sweetness. From £42

Key notes – Mimosa, Sandalwood, Damask Rose, Cardamom

Alaia_parfum_2

~ Alaia Alaia

The first fragrance from the designer, this is stylish, sleek and with inspiration from “the smell of cold water falling onto hot chalk” hard to easily describe. It’s distinctive but not overpowering, different but not eccentric, and fruity but light. This is definitely the kind of perfumer you need to wear for a while before you know what you think, and you may just find after a few hours of wear you love it. The bottle is super gorgeous too, and would be a welcome addition to any instagram-worthy dressing table. From £42

Key notes – Pink Peppercorn, Freesia, Peony, Animal Notes, Musk

~ Gucci Bamboo

Another fragrance aiming for a powerful/soft contrast, the newest offering from Gucci professes to be “sensual and powerful at once” and this is sweet and floral at first smell, but with a definite “kick” in the base notes.  This is pretty – reasonably “quiet” (and a little too so for my perfume tastes!) but a good daytime option if you are fond of a warm, musky, floral with good lasting power, that don’t overwhelm and come with a stylish bottle. From £49.

Key notes – Sandalwood, Grey Amber, Tahitian Vanilla, Orange blossom, Ylang Ylang

~ Marc Jacobs Decadence

So if you like Marc Jacobs’ mega hit fragrance Daisy, then…well, honestly I don’t know how you’ll feel about this, because it really could not be more different. It’s a big, fizzy, statement fragrance which is not for the faint hearted, so super different from previous offerings – really tailored to a confident, glamorous “grown up” woman.  This is totally giving berry undertones, smelling a little to me, like smoke, musk and blackcurrant. I suspect this may be a little love it or hate it, and it certainly doesn’t calm down much with wear – however if you are a girl who likes to make an entrance and likes to know she has fragrance on, this certainly isn’t going to disappear as the night wears on! A great night out fragrance which offers something a little different and lavish. From £69

Key notes – Italian plum, Iris, Bulgarian rose, Liquid Amber, Vetiver, Jasmine

Jo Loves

~ Jo Loves… Red Truffle 21

This is such a unique fragrance and I always admire anything “different” even if I don’t like it. Although  I have to say I do love this. This has a real “green” smell to it, it’s crisp and earthy and dries down to a musky almost masculine pepperiness which really gives you that autumnal vibe. If you love this, I imagine it’s a classic that you’ll revisit every year – it’s exactly the kind of distinctive smell I think could become a seasonal signature scent. 100ml is £95.

Key Notes – Fig, Truffle, Black Pepper, Bergamot, Juniper, Pine Leaves

You’ll like this if you like – Diptyque Philosykos

Have you tried any of these fragrances yet? Let me know what you think!

Incidentally the winners of last weeks Skinade giveaway are Charlotte Hamilton and Rachel Perrott. Congrats girls! I’ll be emailing you very soon with more details.
