Morning! We have made it to Wednesday! Yay. Vanessa has less than 4 days to go, you can catch up on all her posts here. So so happy for her, but this does also mean we will be on the look out for a new blogging bride. I think I will open up applications on Sunday, so if you are interested please keep an eye out. I am now off to buy everything for the bake off challenge today. I must admit, I am scared! So. Much. Meringue.
Today’s editorial was put together by a rather talented group of wedding planners, they wanted to veer away from rustic and vintage and head down the modern and elegant route, which I think they have absolutely nailed.
I came together with Val from Benessamy Events and Jen from Raspberry Bespoke as we are all members of the UK Alliance of Wedding Planners and have known one another for a while now. The membership is spread across the country, so finding a location was challenging. Val, Jen and I are spread between Suffolk, Nottinghamshire and Cambridgeshire so the planning for the shoot was all done via email (lots of emails!). We all contributed to a shared Pinterest board with our ideas and started researching venues. I had met the team at the Jockey Club Rooms a few times and was fortunate to secure this fantastic venue for the shoot. I’ve worked with Ross Dean Photography for a few years and I felt Ross’s style of photography and creative input would be perfect. Val and Jen used their contacts to find us some of the other fabulous suppliers and between us all we created a wonderful team for the day.
There are so many vintage or rustic styled shoots and weddings so we wanted to try something a bit different that would work with our fabulous venue. The Jockey Club Rooms is a private members club so we started with this and developed a modern, elegant, high fashion theme.
Our day started early with all of us travelling to the venue. The Jockey Club Rooms looked after us brilliantly and we were treated to coffee on arrival as we got started with unpacking everything and getting our two bride models into hair and make-up. With four dresses in total we discussed two different looks for each model with our hair and make-up team. Meanwhile we got everything set-up in the various rooms we were using. The sun shone on us and it was a lovely day which meant we could spend some time getting some great shots outside and enjoying the beautiful grounds of the venue.
I’ve curated a few styled shoots and I have to say working with my UKAWP fellow planners on this one was an absolute blast. It’s always a long day filled with hard work, but when you get to spend it with lovely people it really doesn’t feel like work!
I hope we can inspire brides to experiment with a modern elegant look for their wedding day. I’m sure any of our suppliers would be very happy to hear from you.
