Afternoon, sorry for the delay on this one going up. I have been manically cleaning the house after being surprised with 3 back to back house viewings today.
Absolutely loving the decor in this wedding, especially all the jam jars, the cake and the flowers. Lots of love and thought has been put in to this and all of Nicola and Russell’s hard work definitely paid off.

To tie in with our spring wedding, I picked mint green bridesmaids dresses but had bright pink flowers to provide contrast. Our florist was amazing and did a fantastic job of delivering exactly what we wanted. Freesias were included in my bouquet as a memory to my Nan as it was her favourite flower. Gypsophila also featured in the church as pew ends and in a giant heart above our top table.
After visiting a couple of bridal shops, The Bespoke Wardrobe in Ingatestone really stood out. They had an amazing selection of dresses and all the staff were so helpful and really made a special effort to create a whole look, rather than just a dress.
The dress I picked was by a designer called Jesus Peiro and it had an amazing flecked skirt which was my favourite part. After picking my dress I knew my hair would look best up, I opted for a messy style with some height and accessorized with Emmy opal daisy hair pins. For our evening reception I wore a heavily beaded belt and removed my veil to change things up a bit!
Our bridesmaids wore mint green dresses from Ted Baker
All Saints Church, Writtle and Blake Hall, Ongar. We always knew that if we ever got married then it would be at All Saints Church, Writtle. I grew up in the village and was christened at the church, being from a small village meant that lots of family friends and neighbours could come and watch our ceremony.
When looking for reception venues, we knew that we didn’t want people to travel too far and for it to have a lot of character; ideally we were looking for a barn. Blake Hall was the first and only place we visited and knew straight away it was a perfect fit for us. The flexibility of the catering and design meant we could really put our own stamp on our special day. Another plus point was the beautiful gardens and with a spring date pencilled in, we knew it would hopefully make for some beautiful photos.
The barn was essentially a blank canvas which was great as it meant we could put our own stamp on it. The Friday before our wedding was spent putting everything in place with suppliers finishing everything off on Saturday morning. Overall we were looking to achieve a spring wedding with a rustic yet traditional theme.
We were really unsure what to do about favours, in the end we were so pleased to have our pale pink heart biscuits, everyone loved them and they went down really well. They were by Gemma from the cake pop & biscuit shop.
Made by Liza at the Sugar & Spice Cake Co – we opted for four tier vanilla Victoria sponge with textured icing and we included sprigs of flowers used for the bouquets and centre pieces to fit in with our overall theme.
Three Flowers Photography. Charlotte was fantastic, she helped us a lot in the preparation leading up to the wedding so we knew what to expect, and also reassured us if it rained that there was always a plan B! We have been really happy with our photos and would recommend Three Flowers Photography to anyone getting married.
The great thing about Blake Hall is the flexibility with all catering and drinks. We really could select anything we wanted, including having some of our favourite drinks behind the bar! We had Pimms and cloudy lemonade for our reception drinks which were served from vintage drinks dispensers we hired, and also hired jam jars for glasses. Our meal was a chicken ceasar slad, beef wellington followed by a trio of desserts. There were bacon rolls, fish & Chips and cheese boards for the evening guests.
Clint’s Jazz Band – who were just brilliant! They played amazingly and had everyone up and dancing. They even played a longer set as our guests were stamping their feet saying “we want one more!” before they went home!!
We went to Mauritius for our honeymoon for just over 2 weeks, we stayed in three different places around the island and had an amazing time. Definitely try and schedule some relaxing time after the big day as you’ll need it!
