Afternoon you beautiful bunch! I hope the bank holiday treated you well? The weather was utterly glorious and I spent one day of it drinking, the other recovering. At 28 I now suffer from 2 day hangovers rather than the “quick fry up and a shower” recovery rate of my 19 year old self.
Lindsey and Matthew had the monumental task of planning a wedding in Liverpool from NYC. Whilst planning a wedding from a far can be hard, if you find the right suppliers it can be a breeze.

I designed all our wedding stationery on staples.com. I was really lucky that they had a look that I was going for.
Selia Yang http://www.seliayang.com/ – I wore the first dress I tried on as I knew that it was the one. It was lace but with a beautiful silk underlay that was so calming against my skin I could of slept in it. Selia, the designer, was with me every step of the way and had my dress made from scratch in NYC. I loved all of our fitting sessions as she made me not only feel at ease but beautiful and special as a bride should be made to feel.
Bride’s hair accessories/veil: The veil again was through Selia Yang and I just loved the swarkovski crystals that glimmered in the light.
My maid of honor as a wedding present gave me a gift certificate for Jo Malone so I had a consultation at the shop to choose a fragrance for the wedding. I chose Peony & Blush suede fragrance.
Crystal Flowers http://www.crystal-flowers.co.uk/ – I have an old family friend who is a florist and her work is so exquisite that I knew that we would have to have her decorate the venue. I had specific ideas about table decor and she managed to execute them much better than I thought possible! The little touches that she added (and that I hadn’t thought of) such as the flower girl wand and headdress just made the day!
Amy Faith http://www.amyfaithphotography.com/weddings/ – Amy was the recommended supplier from the venue and I completely understand why! As we were planning wedding from New York, Amy was able to skype and talk through our ideas and wishes to what we wanted. Her journalistic approach means that everyone that picks up our wedding album can experience our day from start to finish. It completely makes us feel that we are reliving the whole day, everytime we look at it.
Absolutely fantastic venue, from location to decor to people. Every part of the process was seamless and they made us feel extra special. All recommendations, requests and ideas completely fulfilled with such thought, it was amazing!
Oh Me Oh My, WEST AFRICA HOUSE, 25 WATER STREET, LIVERPOOL L2 0RG.
Lizzie Larder http://www.lizzieslarder.co.uk/ – We had our cake made by Lizzie and it was spectacular! Lizzie allowed us just to pick out the flavourings for the cake only two weeks before the wedding as this was the earliest we were back in the UK. At the meeting, my husband decided that he didn’t like my preferences so to appease the situation, Lizzie made an individual chocolate cake for him on the day!
The venue provided absolutely amazing food throughout the night, starting with the canapés at cocktail hour. Then the exemplary insalata tricolour, lamb rump with ratouille and the cheeses served during speeches. As we were unable to take the cake back to NY with us, we had that as dessert. As a late night snack, the pulled pork and burger sliders were divine.
We chose 4 main bottles for the evening: Sergio Rose for the cocktail hour (my favourite sparkly), Craggy Range (matt’s favourite white), Connetable Talbot (Red – my maiden name is Talbot and we shared a bottle on our very first Valentines) and Billecart Salmon (toasting Champagne – which was what we celebrated our engagement with).
New Power Soul Club http://www.newpowersoulclub.co.uk/ – Lauren and the guys were absolutely amazing! They came during cocktail hour and did a great acoustic set but the evening was set alight when they began their full session after dinner. At one point, everyone was up on the dance floor! Lauren was a great contact for the band and even arranged a DJ for their breaks and after their session finished. Everyone commented on how great they were.
We had a beautiful 4 day childless trip to Mougins in the Cote d’Azur, very romantic and a very full on 4 week family road trip down the east coast of the US from NY to Florida. Both very different but both amazing!
I think my favourite moment was receiving the wedding album and video. At times, the day seemed to pass by so quickly I don’t think you get chance to take it all in. When I received both of these, I honestly felt like I was reliving the day and some of the little moments that I had forgotten just came flooding back.
