Afternoon all, it’s Rebecca here talking scented weddings for today’s post. I had the hard task of attending a Jo Malone Bridal Afternoon Tea party on Tuesday for the launch of a new Lace Bottle range. I felt like I’d stepped into heaven. Hosted at the very grand Jo Malone Townhouse, it was just as you’d expect with an elegant reception filled with flowers and three huge candles burning. That trademark smell hit you as soon as the doors opened, it just screams luxury without being overpowering.

Upstairs was where the real magic happened with lots of us unable to stop ourselves saying ‘Wow’ or Oohing and Aahing out loud as we saw the setting for our afternoon tea. A huge table filled with flowers, candles and cake. What more could a girl want? They’d even thought of the dishy waiters to serve us cocktails and cucumber sandwiches. If you follow Phoebe or I on Instagram you’d see us using the heart eye emoji, a lot yesterday. Allll the eye candy..

Have you thought about scenting your wedding? Jo Malone offers complimentary wedding consultations at your local boutique with a wedding stylist. You can take up to five or your friends or family and discover how to scent your wedding day with tailored fragrance for a unique personalisation. Scent is often overlooked on a wedding day but should be a big part of your day from the perfume you wear, your husband’s cologne to the candles you burn throughout the day to choosing gifts for your wedding party.

Scent is strongly associated with recollection and will build memories. When planning my own wedding I had a consultation discussing the feel of the day, types of flowers, what my dress was like etc. All these details helped to narrow down which fragrance to choose, in the end I decided upon English Pear and Freesia. I wore the perfume and lit the candle whilst us girls were all getting ready. You could also layer up your wedding scent even further with the matching body oil followed by the body creme or lotion before spritzing yourself and your dress with the perfume. A friend told me to twirl around whilst they sprayed me from head to toe, you want your scent to be stronger than you normal for your guests to smell you as you walk up the aisle without being too overpowering.

Having a fragrance consultation will also teach you about the technique of Fragrance Combining, layering up individual fragrances to tailor a one off scent. At the tea party they had three different candles burning, Peony & Blush Suede, English Pear & Freesia and Lime Basil & Mandarin which smelt so so incredible and perfect for an English spring or summer wedding.

The afternoon tea marked the launch of the new bespoke Lace Bottle, an elegant keepsake for your wedding day or as a gift for a bride to be. Choose your signature scent and then select a lace pattern, inspired by English lace for a bridal feel. The bottles were beautiful and will be available from May. The three different designs, two ivory and one black can be ordered with ten of the most-loved scents: Peony & Blush Suede, Orange Blossom, Red Roses, English Pear & Freesia, Lime Basil & Mandarin, Nectarine Blossom & Honey, Wild Bluebell, Pomegranate Noir, Velvet Rose & Oud, Dark Amber & Ginger Lily. Tough decisions, ladies! As well as the classic florals, I really loved the Dark Amber.

Suffice to say, the afternoon tea was rather scrummy with little finger sandwiches, beautiful rhubarb & almond crumble cake, lemon drizzle with a pistachio crust and mini passionfruit meringue pies before hot crumpets with blackcurrant jam, tea and coffee. Dee-lisch-ous.

We found our places with personalised engraved candle lids as favours. The perfect gift for bridesmaids, {or yourself}.

As if all of that wasn’t pretty enough, the ‘wedding’ cake for our bridal tea party looked like this, crafted by the wonderful Lily Vanilli.

I don’t think any tea party will ever be the same now that I’ve experience a Jo Malone Tea Party. If that wasn’t heaven, I don’t know what is…
