Morning! So sorry there was no real wedding up yesterday. I had/have a tummy bug from Thursday and I usually write up mon-weds blog posts on Thurs-Fri (oh hello insider info) I am hopefully back on track now with today’s beauty by Sophie Duckworth. Zoe looks glorious in her gown, and her daughters are just so cute. It looks like SUCH a fun wedding, Zoe and Daron you should be very proud, your girls are gorgeous and your wedding day looked amazing. Congratulations!I think my favourite thing about this wedding is the wedding date. Whilst people may veer from Easter or other celebratory dates Zoe and Daron embraced it:-
“We got married on Easter Sunday as Easter is a very important time in my family. My parents were married on Easter Saturday, two sets of grandparents were married at Easter, I was born on Easter Sunday and our youngest daughter was also born on Easter Saturday”
Cain Manor, Churt, Near Farnham, Hampshire. Cain Manor belongs to a family run business called Bijou Weddings.
As soon as I visited Cain Manor I knew it was the venue for us. We loved the location, the views and the fact that the venue was ours exclusively for 24 hours. It felt like home with the large open fire places, beautiful gardens overlooking the Downs and bedrooms for our wedding party to stay the night in. Our family were all able to relax and enjoy the day knowing they were staying the night and didn’t have to travel anywhere at the end of the evening. I know our Mums particularly loved it as they didn’t need to carry a handbag, just popped back to their bedroom if they needed anything! It was lovely having breakfast together the next day and sharing stories from the day before. We were also very lucky to have our Friend who is a registrar to marry us. It put us both at ease and made the ceremony feel personal as Anne had known us for a number of years.
I didn’t want too many flowers and have been to other weddings where they had spent hundreds of pounds on flowers which were then thrown at the end of the day. Our youngest Daughter, Sophie is in Tulip class at school so it was her idea that we have tulips. Millie, Lucy and I had a small bouquet and Sophie had a white bunny to carry and then I had 4 extra bunches of tulips ordered which we placed in vases around the venue. They weren’t expensive or over powering and decorated the venue well.
Our nails were done by The Nail Stop. Sofie came to my house the day before and had even managed to find a matching nail varnish to go with my daughters Bridesmaid dresses.
Our hair and makeup was done in the morning at my parent’s house by ‘Love your hair and makeup.’ We had had a practice run a few weeks before and they were able to do all 7 sets of hair and makeup in 2 hours…great work ladies!
I found a dress online which I fell in love with and then wasn’t able to find a dress the same in dress shops or in the UK. It was a bit risky (although a lot cheaper!) but I decided it was worth the risk as this was the dress for me! Looking back now it was even crazier than I thought and maybe I can now see why my family was so worried that it wasn’t going to end well. My parents were round one evening so they took my measurements and we placed my order! It all turned out well and although it needed slight adjustments, I loved it!! My shoes were from John Lewis and were so comfortable!
Daron and I have been together for a long time and have 3 daughters, Millie, Lucy and Sophie. Our day wasn’t just about us finally becoming Husband and Wife but about our family. We wanted our girls to be included and feel part of our special day as well. They helped with all the preparations from making and writing our invites, choosing Dads suit and helping with table decorations. One of my favourite moments was when our Daughters all stood up and read a poem during our ceremony. We had managed to keep this a surprise and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house. We were so proud of them!
At the end of the evening, the night manager locked up and then reopened the bar to our family who were staying at the venue. I will always remember sitting round the fireplace drinking tea and eating wedding cake at 1am with our family! So special!
Lequest in Weybridge. Well, if it’s good enough for Sir Cliff……
Sophie Duckworth Photography. Sophie was just amazing! Daron and I are not very good at having our photo taken and often look like “Wallace and Gromit” in photos. Sophie made us feel so comfortable and most of the time we forgot she was there! She had a good understanding about what we wanted and has given us some stunning photos to remember our special day!
We got married on Easter Sunday as Easter is a very important time in my family. My parents were married on Easter Saturday, two sets of grandparents were married at Easter, I was born on Easter Sunday and our youngest daughter was also born on Easter Saturday. Although it was Easter we didn’t want to go over the top with the Easter theme. We brought chocolate bunny and chicks and made them into name places, Millie, Lucy and Sophie arrived at the venue in Bunny onesies, we had an Easter egg hunt for the children (and some of the older members of the family!) and a box of Easter dressing up clothes which provide great entertainment and some really funny photos! I brought the table decorations from Matalan and decorated the room with some beautiful heart lights which we found in Primark!
Chocolate chicks and bunny name place cards. We chose to have our speeches before our food so that people could enjoy the food knowing they had done their speech. We had some young children during the day so we made up some buckets for each table with bits in to keep the children entertained during the speeches.
The cake – Le Papillion Patisserie, Woking.
We met with Neil Thornton and he gave us some great ideas and we were fascinated by the different flavours he could offer us. We had a main cake on top and then individual cakes which were a mixture of chocolate and lemon cakes either decorated with raspberries or mini easter eggs!
Catering/food/drink: All supplied by our Venue, Bijou Weddings.
They did offer a sweet cart option which we thought would be great for the kids during the day. It was a great decision and was enjoyed by kids young and the VERY old.
My Daughters dresses and shoes came from BHS. I ordered them online and they were so pleased with them.
Remember it’s your Wedding Day so do what YOU want not what others around you think you should do!!!!
