A quick Q & A
Favourite Colour: Gosh, no idea, let’s go with topaz. No that’s rubbish, I just want a topaz ring. Okay, fine, whatever pink is on my website, I want to say dusky…
Favourite Film: If I really had to pick one, Mermaids. I have adored Winona Ryder ever since I first watched it (when I was far too young). I remember my sister fast-forwarding the ‘bell tower’ scene. I also fell in love with Peggy Lee’s Fever and wanted to *be* Cher for many years.
Favourite Song: Summer in the City, Regina Spektor. It gets more and more beautiful each time you hear it. Or Joe Le Taxi, Vanessa Paradis. I have it on vinyl and have sung along to it since I was three years old.
Favourite Month: May. Just when you feel Summer’s getting started but it’s not overly busy and swarming.
Favourite Flower: Daffodil. Who doesn’t love them?
Favourite Drink: Prosecco. Or Rioja. Both worthy of a place.
Favourite Food: Chocolate pudding from M&S – is that allowed? If not, roast beef with about 20 yorkshires
Favourite Word: Ambivalent. How I feel about most things in life.
Favourite Perfume: Gucci Envy.
Favourite Book: Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee, Dee Brown. Amazing and heartbreaking.
Favourite Quote from a Film: Probably the whole script from The Blues Brothers (2nd favourite film) But particularly “Elwood: It’s a hundred and six miles to Chicago, we’ve got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it’s dark, and we’re wearing sunglasses. Jake: Hit it.”
Best piece of advice you have ever been given: ‘Don’t let the bastards grind you down.’ Courtesy of my Dad, always a literary genius.
